Ah. I forgot about that. In fact, if a completely new file is added, you'd have no context at all, and could devote six lines to new code.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

The ability to see your tunnel roads and tracks while in see through mode.

It's pretty darn annoying looking for your tunnel entrances and exits sometimes.

One of the problems with tunnels, and making extra features for them, is that your vehicle kind of fails to continue existing whilst inside one. That's how they work. I don't know if it's still the case in OpenTTD, but in TTD I could stop a train inside a tunnel and run other trains through it without collisions.

Bridges are similarly weird, which is why features on bridges aren't forthcoming. Remember, OpenTTD doesn't have a 3D map array. Every time you have two vehicles in the same spot at the same time, there's some "silly trick" being used to separate them.

Alltaken wrote:Hi guys i am trying to compile a series of requests for commonly requested suggestions, which will help facilitate organisation of OTTD and communication of the status of things to the community.

its not a list of things that will necisarily get in or not, but mearly a list of suggestions.

  • Economics
    • More disasters
    • War disaster
    • Less random economy

    • Different trainsets for different players Maybe with choosing countries, and have the trains (trams, planes, busses of the country you choose
    Environment
    • Underwater levels (visable or not)
    • Night
    • Seasons
    • Snow on things (roads, tracks, buildings)Does vehicles slow down in snow?

    • Auto complete signals
    • Track maintanence
    • Signals on bridges and in tunnels
    • Diagonal roads, tunnels, bridges
    Vehicles
    • Variable length Very very weared, and how does the train-is-to-long-for-the-station thing work then?
    • Articulated
    • Faster planes The fastest aeroflot and the dinger 1000 can go more then 2000 kilometers(o,63 mile) a hour and at patches you can change the plane speed proportion
    • Wagon replace with cargo refit (advanced refit options)
    • More monorails/maglevs
    • Ships that don't drive through each other And don't lose the way so fast
    • More future vehicles
Yes, the first reel good idea, iventing till 2300

    Stations
    • Segmented staitions (graphically) And an overpass the other way around.
    • Storage areas for stations (warehouses....) Not the best idea, but nice.
    • Large docks (combine with above perhaps)
    • Placeable airports And more airports, docks in a station.
    • Whole city catchment for airports No, you need trams/busses for that
    • City owned airports
    Bad idea

    Buildings
    • More customisable HQ's
    No, bigger HQ's

    GUI
    • Face window fix/ implimentation
    • Image avatars (from existing file)
....

hopefully it will help things.

suggestions that are not going to be added for various reasons such as war are still requested to be added here.

At road-rail crossings, make the vehicles stop earlier, so the vehicles won't get hit by the train.
with maglev, for instance, I think it's better if the crossing is closed sooner so only vehicles that where stopped or broke down on the crossing get hit by the train.

That is indeed commonly asked for. So commonly that it was implemented.

Implemented somewhere around a year ago, in fact.

To be fair, it isn't implemented in even the most recent formal release.

casperofthehobb: I suggest you have a look at the download on openttd.org labelled "nightly" instead of "stable." It contains all the most recent features (as of the most recent 8pm in Europe), is almost always very stable, and probably already includes many of the features you want.

yea, there is probably 1 release a month (or less) that is "unstable" or introduce some kind of "big bug", but that is usually fixed the next day

No, the steel mill really accepts passengers. You can check yourself by clicking on the red question mark in the toolbar and then clicking on an industry tile. You'll see the cargos it accepts.

Just a thought, but for the common suggestions, why don't you make a board within the Suggestions board that has a sticky for each common suggestion, where developers and visionaries can comment on each one?

because the people repeatedly making these suggestions are so keen on reading stickies that this thread is totally overrun?

We already have that... however... the most commonly asked suggestions are summarized in this thread. All the other threads in this subforum are your 'stickies' for each (common) suggestion.
