I wouldn't know where to start doing this myself, but I had a thought about bridges.
In common with I suspect most people I generally run double-track railways. When I reach a body of water, I lay two bridges, side-by-side.
How possible would it be to make identical side-by-side bridges that merge into one wide bridge? Station platforms are context-sensitive, so I'd have thought this ought to be possible.
Any thoughts?

technically, what would be necessary for this, is varaction2 support for bridges, which has been in discussion for a very long time. besides the problem of actually implementing it, there are performance concerns, and everything might be totally moot if fully flexible bridges were implemented.
all in all, i think it's a nice idea, but i would not hold my breath for it.

Ah, fair enough.
Re: Just an idea
I like the idea, but the sheer quantity of graphics involved would probably stop it getting too popular. A full set of sprites to allow merging would quadruple the number of sprites for a bridge.

I doubt this will be implemented in next year or two (if at all). And current NewGRF bridge specifications will need a drastical change anyways.everything might be totally moot if fully flexible bridges were implemented.
I would like to see this ingame. But it is probably typical TMWFTLB (too much work for too little benefit). In common with I suspect most people I generally run double-track railways. When I reach a body of water, I lay two bridges, side-by-side.
