Scenario on server

Post by helenst »

Hi all

I'd like to start by saying hello, I'm new to the forums but not new to TTD or OpenTTD, I first played TTD about ten years ago, it's one of those games you never get tired of, and as I run Linux I was delighted to find OpenTTD a couple of years ago. I've always played against the AI but now want to get into the multiplayer side of things and am playing around with a dedicated openttd server.

Can anybody please tell me how to load up a custom scenario onto a server game, I can't seem to find this in the config file docs. I have the scenario file on my server (a Debian box) but don't know how to get the server to use it.

cheers
Helen

This should do the trick:

Code: Select all

./openttd -g /path/to/savegame.sav
Also checkout ./openttd --help, to see what's more available.

Edit: and now I see you asked about scenario and not savegames, but it should work just as well with a scenario instead of a savegame after the -g CLI option.

The dedicated server will create company 1 if you load a scenario, rather than a saved game, with the -g option. So, to avoid confusion amongst your players, it's a good idea to reset company 1 with the reset_company command once your dedicated server is up. That way you start with a server which is empty of companies.
