Where "literally years" = a few months, due to having a crapload of schoolwork on my plate right now. Just because there hasn't be a release in a long time doesn't mean there isn't serious work going on under the hood.dev|ant wrote:I'm aware, that's why I mentioned those in the first post. But that set hasn't seen any development in literally years. If anyone that contributed to that set wants to help out here that would be great. As I mentioned, I intend to include NSW locos that regularly make the run down here on freight duties.

That's good to hear. I remember seeing a post somewhere where you said you'd lost all the development files, so I thought the project might be dead. It's great news that it's not.

Re: New VicRail Set [Call for Artists]
On the tracking table you have posted the Siemens livery as Original, yet on the sprites I see Connex's Blue and Yellow. The original livery was M-Train Blue, White, and a Mint Green. The front had a Blue and Yellow Swirl.

Re: New VicRail Set [Call for Artists]
You're right, so I've fixed the table. It's not set in stone remember, so I'm happy to take suggestions or (as in this case) corrections.

Nice work Monaro, I've updated the tracking table.
I'm currently putting together specs of all the engines I can find. Current info is here. If anyone has any information they can contribute, please send it my way.

Re: New VicRail Set [Call for Artists]
Some corrections to your Tait specs:
The Tait has a max speed of 80kmh (50mph), and lived for 65 years, as they were retired in 1984.
As for the other sparks, the Hitachi has a maximum speed of 112kmh (70mph) and has 600hp per motor car with a weight of 38 tonnes per motor car. Introduced in 1972, with a life of at least 35 years, yet probably higher as some seem to be outliving expectations. 40 years would probably mark a more accurate number.
Liveries: Silver from 1972 until 1983. PTC Green and Gold from 1984 until 2006, and Connex Blue and Yellow from 2007 onward.
The Comeng has a top speed of 115kmh (~75mph), not sure about the horsepower, but known to have a lower power-to-weight ratio than the Hitachi. They weighed in at 43 tonnes per motor car. Introduced from 1981, and likely to live until 2015 when the oldest will be just under 35 years old.
Liveries: "Teacup" Tangerine from 1981 until 1985, PTC Green and Gold from 1985 until 2002, and Connex Blue and Yellow from 2003 onward.
Don't know much about the Siemens and X'Traps apart from their top speeds are 130kmh (80mph) and 140 (~90mph) respectively.

Re: New VicRail Set [Call for Artists]
Thanks 523M, I've added in your info and will upload a new version tonight.
I've gathered together a fair collection of steam engine photos, and now have photos or plans of pretty much everything from 1858 onwards (ie. much more than is on the tracking table). If anyone would like to have a go at drawing a steamer, let me know which class and I can send you the photos I've got.

Ta, felt like drawing last night, somehow it just came together.
I'm in a coding mood tonight. Coded the Sprinters up, they look unreal!

Re: New VicRail Set [WIP - Artists Welcome]
F Class is finished so just coding it now. Almost forgot I had the Siemens sitting there so I will code them up as well.
I wish I was a quicker drawer because there is so much to do!
Anyone up for drawing this beauty?

Heavy Harry? Nah, bit out of my league. I can only draw box shaped things. I'd like whoever does draw it to do it justice.
Re: VicRail Set [WIP - Artists Welcome]
I could try and give the H class a go

Re: VicRail Set [WIP - Artists Welcome]
How will you manage the different cars?
I have ideas, but I couldn't help you much before 1950. You could have VR livery Z car from 1955 to 1980, then V/Line (orange) livery N car from 1980 to 1995, then have VLP (red) livery N car 1995 to 2008, then after 2008 have that weird grey scheme. The mail vans could be modeled after ACN or BCZ cars as VR has never used dedicated mail vans as far as I know.

If you're up for a challenge Dan, give it a shot. Twisted is the correct smiley to use.DanMacK wrote:I could try and give the H class a go

The problem with ACN/BCZ cars is they're primarily passenger cars. I was thinking boxvans could default to carrying goods, with mail as a refit? Haven't settled on that though, happy to take suggestions. Oh and parcels vans could do short distance mail runs!Comeng 523M wrote:How will you manage the different cars?

Re: VicRail Set [WIP - Artists Welcome]
Well it would be nice to play with ACN, etc. cars but something really does need to be differentiated between them and normal (i.e. BIH, BZN) cars. Another workaround is for ACN cars is you could have a lower amount of passengers but also carrying a small quantity of mail in it. Connie vans have been known to carry parcels, which could be interpreted as mail in the TT world.dev|ant wrote:If you're up for a challenge Dan, give it a shot.
