[OTTD] Comment my map please

Post by michelverdick »

Hello after a really long time I can "force" myself to play a map for a long time ( probably until 2050 ), Normally i'm really bored after 15-20 years playtime.

What do you think of my network is this map ( altered version of ChathamIslandsV05.scn , sorry if I hurt the original autor )
On some lines I used short feedertrains and long transporttrains for long distance travel.

version r12368
us train set 0.87.3
NA roads 0.8b
industrial Stations 0.98
Newships
New bridges
longvehicles v4
av8 v1.331

I would really like to read your responce.

regards

Eh, stats would be nice. The fact that ur using a nightly with grfs makes it kinda hard to rate. Nice resolution though..

tb2571989 could you show me some efficient bridges then.

The long bridges between lunginbury and sintown are only used by 2 trains, so they don't need much signalling, and as for the other long bridges they have far more trains on them so they need far more signals.

I don't like this way of bridge building, so I would like to see that signals could be build on bridges and in tunnels too, as that would reduce the need for many short bridges, or is there another solution I don't know of?

Why not to have land bridges then? You could have turnad at least half of the ocean (probably whole if you don't have inflation) into ground with your cash

CommanderZ

I've done that ( could almost do the entire map ) but to my it's ulgy and I try to do as little terraforming as possible ( some excepitions )

Like I said if its possible to use bridges and tunnels with signals that would be great

I treat them as replacement for bridge signaling. My networks usually wouldn't work without them as I like to play islands maps.

Btw, are you sure that long trains are effective?

I think they're effective since they make much money 750.000 to 2000.000 a year ( no inflation )
btw when I use more loco's they'r more effective than when I use much more shorter trains. ( how much would I have to use/build of the shorter ones? )

Yes land bridges are easy to build but are ugly and cost much more.

I've done that before. Its easier just to raise the land (and a lot cheaper).

I understand why Michel doesn't want to raise the land though. The next best solution is to create a series of frequent islands stretching across the bay and connect them with bridges. Its your choice as to how frequent you want to make the islands.

You only need to raise two points (vertical from each other) to make the island. That gives you enough room to build the bridges and an extra track for the signal.

Its also A LOT uglier....
