Here is my entry for version 4 - 4 years 5 months that is -
Version 4 of the scenario is much harder! First because moving steel requires a two way tunnel, second because the construction costs are horrendous in 1984. The coal trains are not generating enough cash to dig the tunnel (in a timely fashion). Starting the iron ore business costs about 4millions for a one way tunnel and trains. I used the coal tracks to move grain from Calais to St Omer for extra income, which I got rid of eventually. The grain trains where slowing down coal cars.

Adn. You have very nice clean/direct lines and I like your style of moving grain on the return journey of the empty coal trains. Wonder if its safe to mix coal and grain though

Appologies..Ive just noticed I didnt answer your last question. Yes that is an underground station. I find that my underground, or high above the ground , stations cannot be too far from the industry. If more than four height levels different they will not 'catch' the industry.

In this new post below the land heights are shown.

My tunnel under the sea was at height +1. It climbed to +9 to unload. Its unloading some 8 height levels below the steel mill which is on land at height +17.. Saved a lot of climbing. The station is part of the other stations above ground. So whilst the iron is actually too deep underground it is able to unload because another part of the station is near enough to the steel mill. There used to be other pieces of station in between where the coal and iron trains are. You can see the holes in the ground where some of them used to be.

I actually used your trick for this attempt. My station was at -32ft and the Factory was around 272ft or so. Distance didn't seem to matter.
However, that iso perspective can make it look like you are building right under the Factory when your are actually 10 squares away!

I finally found time :P for this one.
I played version 4.
The time i played to reach the goal was 11 years and 5 months.
After bringing the coalmines to life, i started to dig a deep hole near the steelmill.
On level +4, i started building the stations.
After that i lead the tracks to wards the Canal , lowering the tracks in small steps of two or three levels at a time to the final tunnel.
On this way, trains have to go a longer route, but they come out on top speed with 700 ton of steel on the other end.
(Yes modded wagons)
Traction was for seen with 2 e-lok's.
In whole England, you will not see a single track.
All trains stay real deep under the surface.

Thank you for this one kiop.

I didn't see that, you know why ? Because certain topics don't take you to the first new topic :!: :!: :!:
I can't help it, I can't change it, I spend too much time on this all together too bother anyone to ask why it doesn't work correctly
That is why I depend on others to point me to topic diggers
I apologize for doing it myself
