[OTTD] Requesting Help To Make A Scenario

Post by Two5Kid »

Hi,
I need help in making a scenario out of a picture file. Requesting help!

1) Just the terrain only (no need to fill in towns, industries or even trees)
2) Feel free to raise or lower the terrain but with the overall map still intact
3) Arctic scenario
4) 512 x 512 (preferably, not larger than 512)

The image! (Beware 2932 x 2069)

A quick and dirty height map. Needs a lot of work in the scenario editor but might get you started.

Gave up on that huge map, too much of a hassle. Trying to make one of GTA4, anyone interested in providing me with the map? Thanks in advance.

Sorry, can't help you with a GTA4 map, but I HAD to respond once I saw Sasserine. I have some happy memories of adventuring in Sasserine (my thief prying red rubies out of a series of stone murals) and some not-so-happy memories (having f*ing barnacle-disease-wart-Intelligence-killing growths or some s**t pop out of my f*ing skin because some bloody diseased pirate decided to munch on me!!!) :x

When I had the first one pop out, I yelled out, "AH! I've got the HIV!" and the whole party had to take a five minute break to stop laughing so hard and get "back in the game." Subsequent under-my-breath comments of "*grumble* damned Gono-herpe-syphil-AIDs, she said she was clean!" led to giggling throughout the rest of the day. :P

Swashbuckling adventures r teh pWn.

And for reading this, see if these links are any help. (Hopefully better than nothing.)

I 'was' an RPG player before until age caught up and life caught up on the gang. Haha! Each had different ideas about where their life took and I took the heaviest by enrolling in med school. Well, I thought I would do some justice by creating a map about Sasserine but unfortunately, it was too huge! I'm used to playing 256 x 256, so a 2000+ x 1500+ map is waaaaay too large for me.

Now I was hoping to do one for GTA4 which seemed to be the most awaited game on PS3 and XBox. Couldn't get a good map of it, maybe later when everyone comes out with their walkthroughs.

What stops you from scaling down this map to 512x512?

It cramped up and the dimensions are all wrong. The map is wider rather than longer. By making it into a similar size 512 x 512, all the scale went out the window.

Just add more sea to the north or more land to the south, here is a simple resize to 512x512, just make that black space to land or spread it part sea to the north.

Mr. Two5Kid;

If I were creating a scenario from your map, I'd first put it at 61 degrees
to the right, then just draw it. Here's how it would look at a 61 degree
angle. This is my screenie of it.

Always,

Hi Jim!

Is there any reason for doing so? I really can't fathom how did you manage to create such nice maps. I for one, can't. It would be fine for awhile and then, all goes to hell. Too much detail required. You can have a go if you wanted to. Haha!
