Thought it was about time i shared some screenshots! This is my first attempt at screenshots so go easy on me!

First of all, my style of plaing is very unconventional and i'm sure a lot of people won't agree with it! first of all....i cheat..and i cheat really badly...there i said it!

OK, so i...ahem...set myself up with some money. I've played many games properley and making money doesn't motivate me anymore. Since the passenger destination patch though, i've been interested in buliding passenger networks..and i get impateient so i cheat myself a lot of money so i can get buidling!

I'm also using the change the year cheat...the reason for this is that i want to evolve from steam to diesel and electric in my own time and when i am ready...so ignore the dates on my screenshots completley...of course, there is always the vechicles never expire, but when newer engines are there temptation gets the better of me...so i'm aiming to play a slow and steady game and make it last.

My map is 2048x512. I used the scenario editor to make a large urban area on the east end of my island...but the rest is random. I put industries on just in case i feel like something different in my game...but i've put far too many on!

So, the whole netword is based around the city of Tetditch and of course, i'm starting using steam only with the UKRS (you mght spot the odd diesel railcar running metro services in Tetditch though!) The plan is to have three major mainlines running across my island, the south coast mainline, the north coast mainline and the central mainline...which will end up huge. There are suburban lines around Tetditch, particularly the east coast suburban lines which connect the very built area of the east coast. So far, i ahve built the coastal suburban lines and the south coast mainline which leaves the urban sprawl and out into the country to various cities to the rest with fast and slow services.

So the first screenshot is the first station built in Tetditch, Tetditch Stanhead Street, the suburban east coast lines leave here and hundreds of commuters end up here. Always a bit of a bottle neck to the station but city growth allows little room for expansion.

Second screenshot if of the other major station that has built, Tetditch St Marks. This is the terminus for the South Coast mainline and a commuter service leaves here which connects to one of the stations on the east coast suburban lines. A very busy station, with slow and fast intercity services. The slow intercity services only travel to cities halfway across the island whereas the fast services travel all the way to a city at the south western end of the island.

You might be able to spot a small inner city line that connects the two stations.


The next stage is the construction of the central mainline which will connect many large cities to Tetditch. A huge terminus station will need to be built on the west end of the city and the station will need to be able to handle commuter services as well as the intercity trains.

Here is Cinborough, the first major stop on the south coast main line, just before intercities head out along the coast into the countryside. There is also a small branch which is another link to the east coast suburban lines. This branch will need to be watched closely. If it is well used then it may end up getting upgraded, however, if it is not a popular link then it may end up getting closed.

This is Prartney Falls Beach station which is at the southern end of the east coast suburban routes. A commuter train prepares for the trip back to Tetditch.

And this is Linningdore Cliff station which is the northern end of the east coast suburban lines. These lines of prime for electrification and EMU's when we get to the next phase of the railway's evolution!

And finally today, Tetditch Queen Square, the city's 3rd main station, is complete. 4 commuter lines and 2 intercity lines come in here. Notice the city line has been extended to here as well. Queen Square has been designed to try and avoid the congestion problems seen at St Marks and Stanhead road. Two central mainlines start from here. One travels all the way across the island and the other goes about 2 thirds of the way, (2nd one not complete yet). You can see an intercity just arriving into platform 6 (platforms are numbered left to right)

Tetditch's western suburban lines are proving popular but not as busy as the east coast suburban lines. One more station is planned for Tetditch for when construction of the north coast main line starts.

When Tetditch is all connected, i'll get some screenshots from out in the country so you can see where these intercities go.

Edit: Just realised, i was playing around with the reduce passenger number feature which is why there are no cars in the car park! Whoops! Should be full of them!

Thank you very much, i like using the 'no more roads' settings so i can control the growth of my surburban areas...hoping this will allow the building of future rail stations and eventually get quite a compehensive bus network up and running to all of these 'housing estates'

Problem is, as you can see, i've trapped a farm in amongst this lot! Maybe it could be one of those town working farms for kids or something!

The central mainline enters the city through some of the more leafy suburbs!

If one train wants to enter the depot and another wants to leave it, don't you get a deadlock at the entry signal?

My depots are no more than eye candy in this game im afraid. I've disabled servicing so once a train has left, it doesn't go back until i choose to replace it. Not realistic at all i know and i know a lot of you hate playing that way. But in this game, i'm after the 'look' of the game rather than the techinical side. I do play games with servicing and all that...but i'm so busy at work at the moment i just want a no brainer game where i can just build and create! All style and no substance!

Tetditch's fourth and final station is finally built and is the main terminus for two more commuter lines as well as the new north coast mainline.
This is Tetditch St Georges, and once again, another extension is built on the city line to allow passengers to easily reach the other three stations.

Wow, your screenshots look absolutely brilliant! Especially 'Tetditch Transport, 23rd Feb 1942' looks marvelous: trains running through a woody depression in the middle of a town. Sorry man, but I need to steel this Idea.

By the way, I use almost the same settings as you do. Especially the 'no more roads' setting is very helpfull.

Just went back and looked at your screenshots more closely and you do seem to play a simular type of game to me. I may add freight much later on and might have a go at 3 or 4 main railfreight terminals around my map with lorries coming too and fro to them..going to require being clever with the transfer system though.

Anyway, back to the now...and its time to leave the hustle of Tetditch and head out into the country. i'm playing a 2048 by 512 game so theres a lot of the island left to build on.

A lot of the country is very sparse but i have been busy with spurs off the mainlines, local rural lines and cross country lines.

First shot is Wronninghill right in the middle of the island. Here you can change from the central mainline onto one of the cross country lines. The cross country lines serve the large cities that the mainlines cannot reach. Some of these cities caught in the middle have (or will) a spur to the mainline so they can have direct services to Tetditch, where most of my passengers end up. Wronninghill is where you would change for services to Brohall which is a fast growing city. Wronninghill is a small town but an important station. Here, an intercity fills up with passengers heading for Tetditch.

And here is Brohall where a cross country line connects with a rural line. A busy station and another city that might be in line for a direct service to Tetditch.

And finally, the end of the south coast mainline at Sesdingstone and Sesdingstone Abbey Street station. A line also heads off towards the north to eventually connect with the end of the central mainline. Here, at the west end of the island, the population is growing and the cities are joining up. We could end up with a suburban area to rival the one that already exists at Tetditch at the east end of the island. An intercity finishes it long journey from Tetditch St Marks while a local service might just make it in time to connect with it before the intercity heads off back east again!

Some nice shots Gord. I like the way they are developing.
One thing I would recommend now though, is to try and crop them down a little. Try to draw the focus to the part of the picture you want. I normally use photoshop or GIMP (Which is a free program) for this purpose.

Thanks Ben. Thanks for the tip as well. I'll look into gimp this weekend, i would like to able to crop my screenshots.

Not far off the first evolution of my network too..the smell of steam is soon to be replaced with electric and diesel!

For the record, simple programs like Paint are equally good for cropping and are faster than loading up the GIMP everytime (on my slow computer, anyway!)

Nice shots but you must have very narrow trains to get past the bridge piers on the diagonal lines

Got instructions inside the coaches asking the passengers to 'breath in at bridges!'

I totally agree, all my shots are cropped using paint. There's no need to use anything more.

Tonights installment..and i've been on paint!

First picture. Back at Tetditch St Marks, commuters are bemused as construction workers have been in to put up electric wires. The first experimental electrical trains on the island roll out...but only on the slow line of the south coast main line.

Meanwhile, blissfully unaware of the goings on in the city, this is the quiet village of Mesburg on Guness...which sits on the river Guness...its also the end of a small branch and a small steam tram is on the bridge over the river and approaching the small village station. Now this line is a candidate for a heritage line in the future if there ever was one!

And finally, the river Guness flows down to a large estuary. The north coast mainline has to cross the estuary here towards the small town of Guness itself!

With the passenger network running nicely. Its time to think about mail and goods.

This is Sletminster Railfrieght Terminal, just next to one of the central mainlines, which you can see on the left. Goods are bought here from a nearby factory by lorry. They ae then transported off from here by train to the large cities where distirbution centres are set up, and lorry's continue the journey into the heart of the cities.

And there is a similar set up for mail. Mail trucks take mail from towns and villages to distribution centres. Trains take the mail to other distribution centres, and then again they are transported by truck again into the city centres or surrounding towns.

This is the Great Leabridge mail distribution centre. The mail trains have an inbound mail platform and an outbound mail platform. Trucks obviously pick up at the inbound platform and drop off at the outbound platform.
