Heyhey,

I am an very avid OpenTTD player and regular reader of this forum, thou never posted anything (i think).
I've ran into a spot of trouble, my Intel iMac outputs the next text when running the latest build of MiniIN (both the intel and universal builds)

Code: Select all

computer-van-martijn-van-hoytema:~ Martijn$ /Applications/OTTD\ MiniIN/OpenTTD.app/Contents/MacOS/openttd; exit
Your 'sample.cat' file is corrupted or missing!
Your 'nsignalsw.grf' file is corrupted or missing!

But where is "here", and where is Mini looking?

(to answer the latter, strace it.)
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

afaik those grfs are now all part of the openttd.grf, try to download an old nightly build from the time of miniin, that should have the files
edit: no, forget that... miniin should have the grfs it needs by itself and you're also missing some other files... the game is looking in the wrong dir

When you say "latest" build, which do you mean? MiniIN was discontinued on 31st Dec 2006, so it really is ancient history.

0004tom: it isnt the answer, so dont try to be too smart ;)

He should reinstall the last MiniIN build, and then add the sample.cat & trg1*.grf files. MiniIN never used the single integrated openttd.grf file.

i've just install ChrisIN build r10717, using Nightly build r11290, 18-Oct-2007 20:01.

beceause when i tryied to use OpenTTD beta 2, as my base OpenTTD version, i got the same issue.

i did however have in start from OpenTTD 0.5.3, then install the nightly over it, and then ChrisIN over that to get ChrisIN working.

Edit, i've also got a running version of the MiniIN, using the same method.

nor did, ChrisIN, but, IIRC it was a change in the folders, where all said GRF's were merged into the openttd.grf
that is why he/she will have to install a older version of OpenTTD to install MiniIn.

As i just have with ChrisIn and MiniIN.

by the way, i got this issue using Vista, not a MacOS

Look - I *developed* MiniIN. I DO know what Im talking about. MiniIN and ChrisIN are totally different in approach. (MiniIN used an SVN repository, and was basically identical to trunk in its operation - it even had automatic 3x weekly builds. ChrisIN is/was hand built.)

You do NOT require a nightly to install MiniIN over. You just download the MiniIN package, and unpack it to a clean directory. All the required data files are there, except the normal 7 or so trg1*.grf and sample.cat.
