About everything that's not called Toyland 2 Mars Conversion basicly. All trainsets are based on real life trains and so are most of the station sets.

Just try out what you like I'd say.

What Xeryus says really...

There are many of us who play more for realism that massive efficient networks etc. and we use a variety of graphics depending on the current game.
Personally, if I was to make a list of my must-have GRFs:

Stations
- Newstations
- Industrial Station Renewal
- Canadian Station Set
- Rural, Suburban & City station sets

Trains
- UKRS (English trains)
- DBSet XL (German trains)
- US Set (American trains)

Road
- HOVS
- UK Tram Set - If using nightlies. Stable does not support Trams.

Aircraft
- AV8 (Aviators Aircraft Set)
- Russian Set

Infrastructure
- UK Roadset
- NA Roadset
- PBI (Pikka's Basic Industries) - If using nightlies. Stable does not support NewIndustries.
- TTRS (Total Town Replacement) - If using nightlies. Stable does not support NewHouses.
- NABS (North American Building Set) - If using nightlies. Stable does not support NewHouses.

A few extras that just add a little niceness to the game would be things like:
- Stolen Trees by Infra
- MPH Fences

My actual GRF list is much bigger. Much to big to list here. Get onto GRFCrawler and have a look about. Also check the TTD Patch Graphics section.

Hi together,

because today I became a new Member of this forum, I first would say a few words to my own OTTD history.
I guess 10 years ago, I stumbled over TT, and a few hours later it was clear, that's my game!
Over the years I played TT, TTD, TTD-patch, and now Open-TTD.
So I take the chance to say: Thank's to all the people that are working on the game and keep it alive and bring
all the new features to my PC at home.

But now to the question of the OP.
I sadly have now better advise then the posters before me. But, when I started with TTD-Patch / Open-TTD, I also was
beaten by the unbelievable mass of grf addons. Which to use? What package works correct with another?
I would have found it very practicable if I there were a well tested, fixed set of grf extensions to download.

So I think, I'm not the only one how has this wish when starting.
Wouldn't it be possible to place such a set (like that described by Ben_K) in the download-section?
I guess it would be helpfull for many new users....

ciao

altho you have a vaild point in what you say,

most GRFs are designed by people that play TTDP, and and intended to be used in TTDP

this is my own veiw

as in my pervoius post, there is a list of known GRF's that work with OTTD fully.

now OTTD has the abilty to run New Industrys, the choice is almost as much as TTDP.

the problem is that the Wiki page isn't updated very much.

so feel free to test the GRFs and update the Wiki.

A list of working GRFs would be usable but would need to specify whether it includes stable/nightlies/branches etc. That then leads to the fact it will need updating regularly for the new branches and nightly features that are added much, much more often. This a problem it now has - it hasnt been updated recently.

As for my list... that was a list that I, personally, think are my essential ones. Each person may have a different choice. I also chose those for realism, as thats what I like and what Slacks requested. Someone else might want Maglevs, or other things that I tend not to use. What I am getting at is that GRFs are each persons preference, so the best thing is to try them all. A list could limit peoples exposure to other GRFs that they may prefer.
Just take a look at all the forum threads about new graphics and GRFCrawler. Read them and understand what you can use, cannot use, what is a test GRF, what is a complete GRF, and use what you think you will enjoy. :)
