help :: high speed and capacity trucks and trains

Post by TheG0D »

hi, i have been surfing the forum for a while now but i was not able to find anything simple related to high speed and high capacity trucks or trains, it is not easy to edit grf or nfo files for me , can some one tell us a patch or a simple way by which we can have fun with 1000Km/s trucks with 20000 goods .... (these values might not be possible as there is this discussion of 8 bits max = 256 but still ,can someone explain this in a simple way.

also is there a way to run diff file without compile ....or compile with a few clicks and zZERO brain :P

That's the problem with GRFs, they have a very steep learning curve.

well i don't think there are sets with such extreme speeds/capacities
maybe it would be fun for a minute or two, but then it'd get boring in my opinion...

for easy compiling of any revision, adding one patch (yes, only one at a time) if you want, if you run windows, use BuildOTTD: http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=31823
* @Belugas wonders what is worst... a mom or a wife...
<Lakie> Well, they do the same thing but the code is different.

i too agree with you, keeping such high values might make it boring...but having moderate values above 112 kms/hr to 400 kms/hr will be fun......

I agree that these speeds you mention are excessive. To take it to the extreme why not have the cargo get to its destination immediately and remove gameplay?

Try searching for TTDAlter. It allows you to play just with the original vehicles, but you can adjust their characteristics as much as you want.

MJS, please look again at the section in which you are posting. Then recall which programs TTDAlter does and does not work with.

(Hint: It's called TTDAlter. Not OTTDAlter. There might be a reason for that.)
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

In other words, TTDAlter only alters the TTD executable. It never alters the OpenTTD or TTDPatch executables.
Since TTDPatch also alters the TTD executable, the two can usually play nicely together, but OpenTTD does not touch the TTD executable, so changes made by TTDAlter are ignored by Open.
