Old vehicles...

General talk about Transport Tycoon that isn't specific to TTD, TTDPatch or OpenTTD.

Old vehicles...

Post by feliciafan89 »

It's annoying to find out that your vehicles are getting old and then needing to replace them... I end up sending them back to their road depots and replacing them one at a time. Is there a faster way to do this, or a way around it?

There is an autorenew tool in OpenTTD which can be found under the vehicle patches section. TTDPatch should also have one, which you can activate by changing some line in its config file. I don't know the name of the option though.

It might be called "autorenew".
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

What will happen if I ignore the old vehicle warnings?

Your vehicles will become much more likely to break down (if you haven't disabled breakdowns) and the stations, they visit, will get lower ratings (in fact, the rating begins to decrease, when the vehicle is older than 3 years, but when they reach their maximum age, it gets a lot worse)

Of course I disable breakdowns! That's the LAST thing I need to slit a hole in my wallet!

I used to do the same but recently I've started playing TT again, this time on "Hard" for some additional challenge. It's still a walk in the park after the first few years though, the AI isn't really much of a threat.

The AI all build at a**-scratching, nose-picking speed, no matter how hard you set the game to. There's an grf file for better AI in OpenTTD though.

There's a WHAT! for WHAT! ?

Please check your facts another couple (hundred?) times. Because I'm quite sure there isn't.
Thank you.

I definitely have it, because there's an option for it under "Competition" at the main menu. If it's not a grf file, then it was built in along with OpenTTD... or something.

Well then, it must be one of the other two. Because it sure isn't the first.

What are you talking about specifically?
Aren't you with TTDPatch? I'm using OpenTTD.

Ah... so it's not not a grf file? j/k

Seriously, I don't know what the heck it is, but I'll just go along with what you say, since I have no clue what it is.

Most likely the second.
