RyanAir gets wrists slapped...

Post by andel »

RyanAir have been told off about their 'claims' over the time and cost of travelling London to Brussels...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6957882.stm

My favourite bit:
In a statement, the airline added that "no stupid ruling" from the ASA could hide the success of the airline.

"Only the very rich or the very slow waste their time on Eurostar," it said.
Or the very smart...

There was also no mention in this of the process of going through check-in, airport security or baggage claim which is everybody's favourite part of flying.

When I last travelled on Eurostar check in and security took about 5 minutes.

Yeah it was a good ship that one, they've replaced it with 2 conventional boats that take twice as long to do the journey :(

I'd travel with Eurostar where possible rather than Ryanair even though I live closer to Stansted than London. I suppose my main reason would be that on Eurostar, at least you get some leg room.

Eurostar is miles better than flying, especially with a bunch of chancers like Ryanair.

Knowing what Ryanair's trading standards are like, what do you think their safety standards are likely to be like?

Eurostar terminals have the advantage of being in city centres at major transport hubs. They're a lot easier to get to. The public transport tickets to get to a Eurostar station are also probably cheaper than paying for long stay parking at an airport.

Another nice thing about Eurostar is that you pay the fare and just the fare. There are no extra hidden fees for baggage or airport tax.
