How to learn C/C++
We were all newbies once.
To Freedom I would recommend learning C/C++ on a project that's at least past version 1.0. Preferably 2.0 or higher.
I.e., not OpenTTD, which is currently on version 0.5. Despite being several years old, it's still a young project. Honestly, the codebase is changing too rapidly and drastically for someone who's not fluent in C/C++ to fully understand.
Wondering how to find such a project? Sourceforge is a good place to start.

Re: How to learn C/C++
Technically, most of the code is more or less still C (no C++ constructions like templates, objects, object hierarchy ... ), so yes, for learning C++, better seek another project. For contributing to OpenTTD ... learn C++ or contribute some other way (create graphics, report bugs, etc ....)benc wrote:We were all newbies once.

If you need something, do it yourself or it will be never done.
