Not yet - 66 718 - 722 aren't cleared down the tunnels yet, but they have been doing track renewal works on the north section of the Metropolitan - there are photos scattered around the net.

I don't think the 66's would fit down the tunnels though?

The "surface lines" Ie, the Metropolitan, Circle, District and Hammersmith and City actually have a larger loading guage the national rail network so yes, mainline stock will fit down the tunnels.

Not all - just the Met has a larger loading guage, the District and Circle are the same loading guage.

If an A stock fits down a line, then anything else will as A stock are the widest stock in the country. ;)

Another double post...sorry.

Lord Nelson was on a KMD (Kettles of Mass Destruction) charter on Wednesday between London Victoria and Weymouth via Yeovil.

I caught it on the return at Upwey heading up Upwey bank.

Couldn't swing the chance of them bringing out a 442 from store then?

Pushing from the inside to get them gone quicker ;)

Ahhh personally I hated the buggers - couldn't get a ramp in the door.

Cheeky andel.... ;)

Anyway - another update today celebrating the 40th anniversary (celebrating perhaps not the best word...) of the end of steam on the Southern Region. I chased the Waterloo Sunset railtour today, and plan to photograph the Waterloo Sunrise tour tomorrow afternoon.

The photos from today are at http://www.railuk.org/tcfoto/thumbnails.php?album=90

I was shocked at that... but I'm getting my trains muddled up.

Its John Handem that used to be sat in the London Transport Museum.
