Been a while since I visited the forums here.. Very exciting to see new talents popping up here! A LOT of nice things have been created during the last 10 pages or so (the pages I read through today).
I think Biohazards rail depot should be a bit darker, especially the brickwall, darker and more red, otherwise, I really like it A LOT! :)
The water tower by juancarniglia is also very nice, and frankly, i cant come up with much that annoys me. There is something weird with the ladder or whatever it is on the side of the tower, the tube looking thingy.
Wackis work is excellent too! :) Now, I know u said you wouldnt do anything more with the oilrig, but I think it needs more textures and I also think it looked better when it was dark under it.
Too bad the catalouge system aint up yet though.

General shape means nothing and on high zoom the little details mean almost everything! else the objects will look very plain and out of place :roll:

I tried to copy a structure I saw over at the tube manufacturing plant I used to worked at. It's a kind of ladder that has a protection to avoid falling or something. Here is a pic. I admit is a bit simplified maybe.

Here is also an update on the water tower, I added some small props, fixed a few weird things (lost pieces of metal here and there) and added an old warning sign on the side..

Thats what I thought it was :) But theres something odd about the long ladder with the "fall-protection".. I think its those beige colors. Could you try changing the beige color to something else? On the rest of the tower too, just to see if theres a better color. Perhaps making the ladder more visible and the "fall-protection" less obvious?
Very nice work anyways :)

one of those small transport trains maybe, or some pallettes, containers, barrells etc.
a small hint though: the smokestacks look good, but the inner diameter is too small

An old blue ford pickup and a forklift truck.

EDIT::
The factory looks abit too clean and perfect according to me.
And the corrugated steel roof is likely to be seperated into square sections.

I agree. It needs a lot more work and it deserves it, as concept is very good. You have surprised us.
Consider:
More rust on roof, reflexions of sun.
Some barrels.
Some water-mud, vegetation, debris on ground: to appear dirty.
Some structures with different brick color or roof color (maybe more rusted roof from aging) to show it was constructed in parts.

Should the roof even be corrugated iron? Slates may fit the time scale of red brick better. (and the roofing currently is a similar colour to the ground, if changed it may improve the diversity)

imo the main-entrance fence can also be replaced by a small train-line with some full or empty carriages, maybe unrealistic if no trains but anyway, put some trains, cars, crates, that kind of stuff in middle,

ALSO PLZ NOTE=> TILE-ABILITY

see altakens post for it, the factory, steelmill, coal mine and some other industries are currently based on multiple sprites (or things)

if i where you i would try to find those original parts and make sure you have similar looking or at least same-sized-replacements for those;)

good luck and again, it is GREAT wat you do:)

I really like the gate the way it is now. As you mentioned i think it would look weird with a trainline in the factory but no line outside.

Right-o.
ZxBiohazardZx wrote:the beams are fine but im wondering if you can slide them to the back so they match the roof (lowest points)
That'd be lovely, but then they'd go right through the windows. Unless you want me to remove the parts where the windows are...

What it doesn't need is rail. The player can always add a station if ever a 32bpp newstations type thing is done.

that said still leaves us with the "problem" of tile-ability, the factory is a 3-different build-up-sprite if im right so either he has to make 3 versions, or he has to make the whole-factory tile-able....

If you're going to bring up "tileability", then we've already lost any town buildings larger than 2x2, and a few industries too.
