[REQ] LIRR DE30AC and C3 bilevel cars

Post by soakedmaster »

I was searching Wikipedia on the LIRR fleet, and I found some decent pictures of the bilevel train diesel engine and it's matching bilevel cars. I was curious if someone could possibly create the two vehicles for Locomotion. I also have some basic stats; I am, however, going to show the pictures first:

Image
EMD DE30AC
Power: 3000hp
Invented: 1999
No obsoletion
Top Speed: 100mph

And the attachment is an LIRR C3 bilevel car (much like Seelenquell's Comet VI but with a flatter top). Also, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority on the side of the car in the picture is not on the LIRR versions and the blue is a bit deeper as you can see in the DE30AC picture.
Invented: 1999
No obsoletion
Top Speed: 100mph
Capacity: 143 passengers

I'm sorry that my stat's aren't complete but this is all that I could find. Thanks for taking a look at this thread, and if you would be willing to make these please tell me (in this thread).

it's a bit similar to a UK class 91 in shape, then?

Yes, I would say that. Just without the pantographs on the top, and it's a bit longer.

Maybe this will help (if you're not sure what it is). It has some pictures of the locomotives. (DM-30 is the dual-mode variant of the DE-30.)

Yes, a full LIRR pack would be a nice addition to LoMo. That's almost why I made this thread. I didn't expect there to be a bunch of MSTS models of the trains, so this is a big plus for me. Thanks for finding these models, busman!

Not much of a website: no pictures of these engines, no gallery...

However, I would be willing to help with this pack.

Deal. I can also try and contact the authors (edit: once I know which ones we'll work on).

Well, I am glad to see that this project is beginning to get off the ground. I think that at least the ones I requested should be done. Ideally, the entire LIRR fleet would be nice, though.

Well, is the requested one available as model? If so, lets start with that one first?

Hmmm, with a bit of repainting on my side, this could be turned into a NJT PL42AC almost. I might give it a crack, see what the mapping on the unit is like.
Cheers,
Mike

Yeah, on the page Busman provided, the model I requested is the DE30 and Cab Car. I don't know if there is a middle car on these trains or not, I think they may all be considered cab cars; they all seem to have a place where a person can drive the train in reverse.
