Graphics not working

Post by Alendo »

I wanted to change the look of the stations a bit and so I downloaded some of Aegirs sets, but when I use them in game they all become so pink and ugly that it's tearing my head apart. Anyone know how I can fix this?

You're using the Windows graphics with the DOS data files.

OR

You're using the DOS graphics with the Windows data files.

Which version of the game did you get the data files from?

You have on of these two versions of the game:

Windows: Only ever sold in a bundle with Railroad Tycoon and Rollercoaster Tycoon. Mostly downloaded.

DOS: Sold in all shops after release, up into the 21st Century as a Budget title.

Can you please identify which one you have, and then post your NewGRF configuration? (the grf filenames at the bottom of openttd.cfg)

Well to be honest, I don't have an original (yes shame on me) but it's not because I don't want to pay for it, it's just impossible to find a store which has it. Flame me all you like if you want to. And no I don't know which version it is. But thanks for the good help. Maybe I will find out what is wrong some other day.

Well, what was the filename of the newgrf station sets you downloaded? If there is a w at the end of the filename, those are the windows versions, so you need the dos versions instead, and vice-versa.

Ahh, thanks you're a lifesaver mate. Found the one with w at end. Tried it and it worked. :D

That's fine. We don't penalise for downloading the game (But we still do for the newest games).

I run off a downloaded version of the Windows version myself (as do most regulars here), due to the scarcity of the Tycoon Collection.
