(IMPLEMENTED) How do you get new cargos to work?

Discuss, get help with, or post new graphics for TTDPatch and OpenTTD, using the NewGRF system, here. Graphics for plain TTD also acceptable here.

One of:
1) Use TTDPatch.
2) Implement support for newcargos in OpenTTD.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

either ask someone to impliement it (though the Dev's are busy and I believe that it is in the pipeline......maybe......)

or

Write a patch to impliment it yourself.

For that you need some programming skills in the language C. Then you have to check out the OpenTTD source code, you have to become acquainted with the source code, write a patch for the new cargo, test that patch and publish it somewhere on the forums.
If you are a normal user/no programmer then I think you are not able to implement new cargos into OpenTTD.

Or you could wait until we actually finish the already undergoing implementattion ;)

I'm not going to give any ETA, the usual answer : when it will be ready...
But there is already a great deal of it currently done.
So... patience :)
If you are not ready to work a bit for your ideas, it means they don't count much for you.
OpenTTD and Realism? Well... Here are a few thoughs on the matter.

The kind of patch we're talking is basically source code differences between what you wrote in your own version of OpenTTD sources and the one we keep in what we call the trunk.
The difference is actually what we call a patch. As itself, it's worthless unless you can apply it to another version of the sources and compile it.
Hope it answers the question :)

No one has one. You have to create it yourself.

or wait till someone else finishes writing 1.

as said, its not written yet.
JPG SUX!!! USE PNG!!!
There are times when JPG is useful, TTD screenshots is not one of them. Please use PNG instead.

I have a right to resurrect this year old topic, and shall do so by saying: Can a mod lock this?
Hmm, what should I put here...

Locking a topic doesn't stop people from reading it, just responding, and nobody was trying to respond. So you have resurrected a thread with a response, sparked a response, just to request no responses where there were none. I fail to grasp why you did this, but the topic shall be locked on request.
