I've begun work on stations, with the basic platform sprites drawn.
First actual station being worked on:
Loughborough Central.
This is in the early stages, but has taken a while all ready. The road on the bridge will not actually allow road veichles, so don't ask if it does, and don't try to be a smart-arse and tell me it doesn't because I already know.
Approach Ramps will be drawn later.
I need to draw on the station buildings and canopy, and then flip the whole thing, re-shade it, then cut it all up into it's individual sprites.
Well, one thing's for sure, I'm going to be at this for a while.

It looks nice for a purely island-platform layout, however being rather intimately acquainted with Loughborough Central, a few critical observations:
- The bridge does not span the whole station as shown, it has a central pier. It'd probably look better to have the "island" graphics show only the central pier, and let the abutments at each end be on adjacent tiles.
- GCR brick-built structures (save for station buildings themselves) were lined with alternating courses of blue and red bricks. This gave a generally purple colour from a distance (although the ravages of age meant the the porous red bricks have now attracted a large quantity of soot making this rather nice finish hard to spot, rendering it a dark blue over all)
Definitely something you should continue with, though.

Yes, I work down there aswell.Ronstar wrote:It looks nice for a purely island-platform layout, however being rather intimately acquainted with Loughborough Central
Indeed, the central pier is already drawn, as are some messed up stairs, since I forgot the Ticket and other offices building. That will require drawing.Ronstar wrote:- The bridge does not span the whole station as shown, it has a central pier. I'm just trying to get the basic shape of everything before working on everything else with shading and such.Ronstar wrote:- GCR brick-built structures (save for station buildings themselves) were lined with alternating courses of blue and red bricks. Something I definatly will do.Ronstar wrote:Definitely something you should continue with, though.

*Dig dig.*
It's been a long time since I've posted on this thread, but now, I bring ye forumers some... Errr...
Well, it's a station. Quorn and Woodhouse, to be precise and I can't say yet if it's complete or not. What do you guys reckon? What improvements should be made?
note: The blue is not CC, but should it be?

Company colours would be fine.
I think the station could use some benches (or shelters, if benches are too much of a luxury
), some 'inside out' platforms (see screenshot), and some full platforms. Those inside out platforms could really be improved with your foot crossings (I don't know if people still cross platforms that way...I tend to not wander across rails
).
I'll let other people comment on your existing work.

I do believe that eis_os is working on a feature that will allow road vehicles on station tiles. I dunno if that would help THIS out.

The occasional look back at your past can teach you a great many things...
