I meant mail-boming in the enough-emails-to-crash-their-mail-server sense. I'm sure if everyone wrote a well-written letter explaining why making a TT2 or re-releasing TTDLX would make them money, they would get it.

I'm Canadian too, but I don't need a signature the size of Texas to let you all know.
Could be a good idea to bomb them. Although I'm not certain what would happen.....Gspot wrote:I meant mail-boming in the enough-emails-to-crash-their-mail-server sense. it's here.... http://i-want-a-website.com/about-tt/ttfaq18.html
This is a petition for a new version of Transport Tycoon, or, at the least, a new game in the transport strategy genre. Fill out the form below to add your name to the petition and show your support for a new version of TT.
Over 1,700 people have signed the list! Game companies are missing a golden opportunity here...

what are you looking at? it's a signature!
IIRC games that do not sell at least 100.000 copies barely break even (of course this depends on the production costs).mp3Pro wrote:it's here.... http://i-want-a-website.com/about-tt/ttfaq18.html

1700 sold copies are too few for a success ...
IIRC Diablo II sold more than 4.000.000 copies, and there was a sequel that sold well, too. So you need to get a few more people on that petition to make the companies move

Simutrans was downloaded over 100.000 times (but I don't know how many people downloaded several versions), so I assume there a larger user base for a transport sim than 1700 peoplespaceman-spiff wrote:I'm still not on that petition, I think there should be more people than 1700

I just was unsure how many of the forum users have a feel what companies consider a succesful game, and tried to give a few numbers from the best of my knowledge ...

Something like this might work
Just a rough draft. To Whom It May Concern:
As you may know, in 1994 Chris Sawyer made a game called Transport Tycoon. A few years later, he made a sequel, Transport Tycoon Deluxe. These games, both produced by Microprose, have been the sleeper hit of the decade. A huge cult following has resulted. Nearly 10 years after the first game came out, fans still run websties, make scenarios, and produced add-ons.
As you may also know, there are very few games with this replay value. Even games like Grand Theft Auto (DMA, Take2 Interactive) and Half-Life (Valve, Sierra), with huge fan-bases and fan-created add-ons and modifications, don’t even come close.
You can see, another sequel to TT and TTDLX would be a sound investment. Take RollerCoaster Tycoon, for example. Despite using a dated graphics engine, this game still drew fans in. Several add-on packs furthered the fan-base and replay value. Also, a recent surge in the “… Tycoon” games proves that the games players of the world love to own and manage their own company.
Although, the Transport Tycoon series is the only real tycoon-game series. Please seriously look at making a new Transport Tycoon game.
