Michael, are you planning to combine ECS and Alpine climate?

Hi, I'm back after some years...even If I continued to follow the forum.
I have found some bugs with the DB set XL, maybe yet known.
I started a game with this set, the first AI company built a passenger maglev line but didn't managed to buy the engines (only 4 carriages), after some time I bought that company and completed the line.
Second problem: another AI company built a simple electrified line, 3 wagons but no engine. Then I purchased the 75% of the company to manage it and I completed the line, using the cht: money cheat, demolishing the depots to make longer stations and buying an engine. When I went back to my company, in the location of the old AI depot another engine appeared starting to go back and forth on the old depot case...without rails.

Don't do that. If you modify the AI's tracks, period, you must not permit the AI to retake control of that track system. Especially not if it was in the middle of building a route.Marco wrote:Second problem: another AI company built a simple electrified line, 3 wagons but no engine. To fix this, build a depot next to, and facing, the offending train, and it'll drive into the depot, where you can then sell it.
Or use cht:deleteveh.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

> [Wile] Michael, are you planning to combine ECS and Alpine climate?
Well, these are different projects but o/c they´re linked in some way or the other.
- AlpineClimate will stay as a 1:1 copy of the original temperate climate, industry and cargo-wise.
- additional cargoes and industries (ECS) will be added to the different climates (e.g. AlpineClimate) by the NewCargo Set.
> [George] I'd like to see updated DB set XL first
O/c the DBXL should be updated first because of its key role in ECS. Unfortunately, I lost version 0.83 (which only should implement ECS besides some minor changes) during the process and now the next release will be the much bigger and final version 0.9, which still requires a lot of things to do. Thanks to my ever increasing railway library, it´ll be a completely new DB Set with lots of additional locomotives, rail cars and coaches and some very interesting new features.
But due to my other commitments, I don´t think it´ll make much progress during summer.
regards
Michael

And, on an entirely different note (so excuse for not re-using my previous post): a crash while refitting the blue BR-which-is-the-first-electric-train-to-go-149km/h. It's just been introduced, well, actually, I have accepted the offer to test it; and now I'm refitting a set of normal wagons to F-train wagons, which go very nice with the blue colour of the engine. However, the game crashes as soon as I press Refit, and does so at the exact same point when I try again.
Here's the crashlog. I use beta 6.

Most likely a patch bug:

Possibly the same as this one:[...] while processing sprites for ID 0018; Feature 00; Callback 36; GRF file newgrf/DBSETXLW.GRF; Sprite number 06A4 (hex).
Neither does DBXL v0.82.The crashlog reports : while processing callback 36, this is misleading but it may have something to do with it. The Canadian Trainset does NOT use callback 36 at all !!
regards
Michael
Well technically, the callback is still called even if the set doesn't react to it. That shouldn't cause it to crash however...michael blunck wrote:Neither does DBXL v0.82.The crashlog reports : while processing callback 36, this is misleading but it may have something to do with it. [edit] It turned out to be due to using an uncached var 42, which calls callback 36 to determine prop 25, which uses var 42, which calls callback 36, which uses var 42, which...

Hmm, this might be a completely daft question, and im sorry if it is, but browsing through Michael's wonderful site, i discovered the latest version of the DBSetXL is 0.83 in the documentation. However, i am unable to download 0.83 from either your site or Josef's.. Am i missing something, as the release date says 12th July 2005, surely that is meant to be 2006 and if possible, where can i download the latest version, im itching to try it

James, I have the DB Set 0.82 on my computer. I'm assuming it's a typo, as I've downloaded the latest version from Michaels website when I got this PC, and that is it.
However, I will happily stand corrected if I have missed a release.
I'm especially looking forward to new ships XL, the driving control trailers, the next batch of new cargos, more alpine set goodness, freight stations...
Oh, there's too much good stuff in the works

Michael quite a few times before has uploaded the documentation for a new version well before uploading the new version itself.
If I remember correctly, wasn't 0.83 being stalled indefinatly, and skipping straight to 0.9? How is that progressing allong? I've seen some interesting looking screenshots regarding the articulated vehicles feature.
However, what I'm more curious about is how Michael is progressing with the European Scenario. I'd greatly appreciate a screenshot, but well, we all know Michael tends to build up the suspense before a release

I *had* a test GRF of the ET-41 when it was drawn, but that was lost in a HDD crash. So, you may have seen it in some of my games around the forums, but no, that version of the set is not anywhere in the public domain yet, afaik.

OK, I´ll try to shed some light on the issue.
> If I remember correctly, wasn't 0.83 being stalled indefinatly, and skipping straight to 0.9?
That´s very true. V0.83 had been planned for summer last year but in the updating process I lost the diffs and then dropped 0.83 entirely because at that time I had already started work in parallel for v0.9 which would be the final version of the DB Set.
There were some intermediate test versions of some of the new stock in single files but there has never been a complete release of 0.83.
So, only 0.90 will contain those new engines, rail cars and coaches which are already partly present on my page.
regards
Michael

1) from technical reasons: the associated spriteblock couldn´t hold any more tiles.Raichase [in: pictures of your games] wrote:Yes, I've always wondered why there was no single underpass.
Nice looking trains in that shot too, are those DB-Set, or Alpine Set (or whatever it's new working name is )?

2) DB Set v0.9. The rail car in front is an early battery-powered double railcar type AT3/ETA 177.
These cheap and reliable rail cars will allow a comfortable start in 1921 on branch lines.
