OK, look at my SW1500, and modify from it I say. Yours is a good start, but TBH, is way out of scale. I standardized my lengths at 24px for switchers, 28px for 4 axle road units and 32px for 6 axle units. (remove 1 px on each of those for coupling gaps)
Diagonals are half the length of the horizontals

And I just really, really felt like trying to contribute.
I'm currently not satisfied with the Hiawatha Class A because it basically looks a bit like its own observation car, the colours are too grey and different from all the photographs I've seen of it, and the wheels are the wrong colour. Therefore, I've redrawn it. Well, just one angle, to show you what changes I had in mind. Most structural (non-colour) changes were based off this photograph: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/e ... ee_A_2.jpg

The locomotive has been whitened, its missing headlight added, but I'm not too sure about the grey steel rods on the front.
I much prefer White Rabbit's second try. I do not think they were painted a dark grey, they were closer to eggshell. And they were washed scrupulously. Dan, do you have an alternate color photo showing a darker grey?

Trains in TTD may always be drawn, like those paintings, but we should still base colours off actual photographs. On the other hand, I do admit we need more than one colour photograph to be sure. Still, all the photographs and paintings show that the current sprites have wrongly placed headlights, and I think the \ view has the black rectangle drawn wrongly. It should look like the one on the / view, only flipped, but it doesn't.
P&B is as acutally getting close to being done. I gave up on the front corner statue and intend to maybe just put a fence around the area and allow the terrain tiles to show through for each climate+snow. Everything is the proper size now with the exception of the shed which needs to be trimmed 2 pixiles to not extend into the next tile and the rear shed entrance which needs to be tweaked to fit how the 2 tracks will pass through it. The side platform tile should accept any irregular station platform. I'm going to add the station's weathervane, touch up a few spots for lighting/texture issues of which I hope most have been worked out in the first place, erase the white border around the edges, and she should be good to go. I would like to to know which brick color people perfer before finishing up.
#3 is the original, which looks dark when mocked to the rest of the TTD world. #2 is much lighter and fits in the world well, but looks too bright in comparison to the real world. #1 looks the best in my opinion, but it seems to be a compromise between the two, however given the limited pallette there aren't too many choices.

It's probably going to have to lose the historical accuracy and have two slender columns supporting the arch. I'm going to have to figure out column spacing for the rear view of South Station as well, so the shed entrances of everything I do are going to be uniformly fudged to suit the game world.

Option 2 mocked. You can see the edges to the tiles need to be cleaned up and the shed needs to be shifted a few pixiles back, no biggie
