problem with newgrf in OpenTTD

Post by namor82 »

Hello,

i just have tryied the new OpenTTD engine. It looks great.
But i can't get the newgrf witch worked with the TTDX-Patch on the OpenTTD.

I have read that i have to put the files into the data folder and then add sth in the openttd.cfg.

So I have added this
[newgrf]
arcticsetw.grf
cargosetw.grf
elrailsw.grf
newshipsw.grf
signalsw.grf
tempsetw.grf
trkfoundw.grf
LongBusesw.grf
McTrucksw.grf
ScaniaTrucksw.grf
VolvoTrucksw.grf
SpitzerTrucksw.grf
NavistarTrucksw.grf
ttrs2w.grf
Toyland2MarsW.grf
But it doesn't work. In the Game i can see, the names of the newgrf, but they are marked red, so they are off, and i can't get them on.
Has anyone an idea ?

You must run a newgame AFAIK, and not all new.grfs are supported by OTTD, look in the new.grf test topic for more info about this matter.

all grafiks are marked red...

I made a new game, but this makes no difference.
I thought that all *.grf where supported by openttd. If it is not so, do i have do delete the not working from the config or does the system not load the not supported ones ?

it mostly tries to load them but it will fail resulting in faulty graphic errors and such, but I think you should try first adding a new.grf file (by disabling them in the config file with an '#' (Without quotes)) and add a new one, one by one just to see when it won't load any new.grf files anymore. Or to see wich one don't load correctly to see that they are unsupported (yet).

Remove
elrailsw.grf
trkfoundw.grf
as these are not needed to be put in the OpenTTD config.

Also, all newgrfs are always marked red. Despite anything, all are red

They're always marked red. That's an irrelevancy.

You definitely have at least one working newgrf in there, because the roads are different to the default.

BTW last I heard, the graphics gui does not work at all - other than list the files. So even if you have a working grf installed, it still shows red in the list. (The list may be removed shortly, to correct this inconsistency. When the code is fixed, it will make its glorious return!)
OTTD NewGRF_ports. Add an airport design via newgrf.Superceded by Yexo's NewGrf Airports 2
