4LVW.GRF crash.....

Post by Greyracer »

-Feelin stupid..dunno what´s causin´it....
-Crashlog included as well as list over in wich order the grf´s I use is loaded by TTDXC...

-After loading of the game,4lvw.grf also mysteriously altered available vehicles when clickin´on a road depot..the images shows that it´s a bus f.x,but data/info tells me it´s a lorry/truck of some kind..i.e coal truck.

-This messes up the game really bad, tried to replace "vehicles.dat" to no avail....

*scratchin my already bald head*... :?

I think this may have to do with the IDs that TTD uses - vehicles from Long Vehcles GRF are using the same ID as other vehicles from different set.

This may be the reason or it may not be.

The crash is due to veh.var. 47 not working unless a cargo translation table is installed, this has been fixed for beta 4.

The other issues will be for George to comment on, I think.

Could you give us more info about the problem? Did you try to add LV4 to existing game?

-Nope..it´s not added to an existing game..tried that, but to no avail..same result..don´t have the valid crashlogs on it anymore...(solly...)..
-Created a new set of grf´s ( listed in the image, screendump´s from the attempt to implement it to an already existing game ),loaded a new game..and still....*yikes*..

-A small confession then seems to be in order :used TTDAlter to try and correct the "problem"...might have to do with that..althoug I didn´t change any name´s or specs of any vehicle...

-After that attempt through TTDAlter..the game crashes just after I´ve built and in a few cases, refitted a truck and the truck leave the depot...
-Restarting the game causes the entire computer to hang and windows "bluescreen of death" appears after a while...

-Hope that this might shed some additional light on the issuse.. :?

BTW:the tanker seen bottom right in the screendump is actually a steeltruck...how a tanker now carries steel....

-When a computer with equipped with MSWindows of almost any version since Win95 becomes unstable,if for example a program or series of programs running at the same time encounters a problem..the computer freezes (hangs) and will not respond to any commands besides Ctrl-Alt-Del...more so often not even that will assure that the "deadlock" dissaperes...then,and only then, your screen turns bright blue and and the operating system advises you that the system itself is unstable and low on system resources, either waiting for a program to execute something or shut down...

-That´s why it´s called "the blue screen of death"...the only cure is to manually restart the computer, hence loosing everything you was working / playing with for the moment..

-After a maunal restart (reboot) the computer works fine...until next hickup....

-Am I makin´any sense now?? :)

You were making sense in the first place, I don't think it was your English at fault, Greyracer.

Oh, in fact you can write very good English if you do not cut the text :) So, could you please explain as detailed, as you did in the last post, the problem that you have with long vehicles? What did you mean with “mysteriously altered available vehicles”? Was it a new game or did you apply it in the old save? If it was the old save, did it use previous version of LVs?

P.S. I meant that I did not understand not the quoted part, but the whole text. Sorry for the confusing quoting.

Ok,no problems :)

-Here´s what happend then :

-The first time I added the latest edition of Long Vehicles,I deleted all previous grf´s containing vehicles so that they wouldn´t end up in conflict with eachother.
-After adding the latest edition of Long Vehicles,I started a new scenario ( not a saved one),and the game crashed after refitting a vehicle and it left the depot.
-Tried the same thing again, this time with fewer grf´s in the set, ended up with the same result, the game crashed.

-Then I tried to use it in a saved game, beeing utterly careful to,prior to starting the scenario, removing all other vehicle grf´s.....same result, the game crashed.

-Third time around I used TTDAlter to try and correct the problem without altering/removing/changing the vehicle specs, then loaded a saved game with the Long Vehicles grf.....game crashed.

-The last attempt made was to start a new game with a re-arranged grf list...game crashed...

-Apart from all these crashes..I don´t know if it is the Long Veihcles grf or TTDAlter who messes up the vehicle graphics,to the extent that a steel truck shows up as a tanker but with the specs of a steel truck.
-Furthermore,instead of a wide and useful variety of vehicles,I now have ended up with a lot of busses and practically no trucks/lorries,all of them with messed up graphics and specs.I do however enjoy seeing all the naked girls on the busses btw. :D

-In yet an attempt to correct all this,I deleted the original VEHICLES.DAT and replaced it with a renamed file, taken from TTDAlter..didn´t work at all so I replaced the altered file with a copy of the original one.

-After so many attempts to correct this "malfunction",I´ve now but almost ran out of options but to delete the game and reinstall it all.

-Hopefully this has shed some light on things now... :)

That is not required. The LV4 should report about conflicts and disable itself unless all the conflicting grfs are deactivated

The scenario is a save game indeed, so you can have a mess. The best way to test something is to start a random game. Try it if it works.
In case when yes, try reset vehicles cheat in the save or scenario.

did the crash-log file points LV4 in its' last line?

Try to delete vehicles.dat

Please teast the suggested solutions. If it does not help, try to make a save before the crash and post it here.
