New music for TTDPatch

Post by Redirect Left »

This has probs been asked before but ive looked and it wasnt in the last 3 months.

so
Is there any way to change the music TTDPatch plays, or indeed add songs to it, or change the format it plays such as allowing it to play .WMA or .MP3

Thanks

if you have windows version just tell it to not play any music, allow your soundcard to play two lots of sound at once. Then before you open ttd open your favourite music in your media player.

I believe the discussion at http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?t=24584 contained something about the file types which can be played. However it is related to dxmci.dll but not directly to the patch, so your search didn't yield anything.

I tested Jezulkim's version of the dll myself, and it really plays MP3 in game. However it supports only Stereo songs, so those downloaded from the link on Owen's page might not be directly applicable.

You mean like the switch that lets you use MP3 format songs? I'll have to look it up later, but I'm fairly certain it exists.

I would appreciate it if you could try to look it up :)

Mr. Kirk, I think you should proabably look this up yourself, if such a switch exists it will be well documented within the manual.

(A nice suggestion though)

There is no such switch, but a modified version of dxmci.dll that uses MP3 files (or any DirectShow supported file) instead of Midi. I have no link for it, but a search should bring it up easily.

Indeed, I wrote such a thing some years ago. Search for "TTDAlter 1.0" or "TTDAlter for Linux", and an old version is attached in that post. I did write a newer version and release it, but I'm not sure (outside of my hard disk) where it is...

That is exactly what I refer to, though I was under the mistaken impression that it was controlled by a switch. A quick use of the search function (keywords dxmci.dll, mp3; search limited to General TTDPatch) should get you what you want. I think.
