TTdPatch 1.8.2 Progress

Talk about the sequel to the original TT, Transport Tycoon Deluxe.

I though, I should be the first one to post that.. :)

Anyway, from what I´ve been reading, the new ships are just around the corner. We can even see them load and unload. What´s left is names and specs (top speed, weight etc).
I'm lost in space. Visiting mother earth once in a while.

no, he is finishing TT 1, he is like the carpenter or the plumber, Chris Sawyer Put the foundations and now Josef is finishing the job, TT2 is for Chris Sawyer ;)

I just stumbled onto this place recently, firstly, I´d like to thank you. I loved TT years ago, but the game wouldn´t play under 2K or XP, I thaught I´d have to give up on TT. Then I found this place, got TTD, and the patch. I´ve played some 18hrs in the past 24. :p Your patch is great, and adds what the game needs.

I just wanted to make three minor suggestions.

1. Make what vehicle groups you will play with selectable. The Temperate maps use europian vehicles, and the desert/arctic use american vehicles. I´d like to be able to play with the American vehicles in the temperate climate.

2. Enable the vehicles REAL names.

3. Make it possable to connect airports and heliports together. I´d like to see them landing at the same station, but not clogging each other up.


But hey, you´re the guy who is coding this for the sheer hell of it, don´t mind me.

thanks for the suggestions, but actually Josef isn´t on this forum, this forum is way to small :D
but maybe you could mail them to the mailing list, there you can see lots off ideas and Josef will answer them

Like spaceman said, this is not out patch. We just post when Josef and the others that help him have done a new version.

I suggested #2, but that was denied. He didn´t see the need for this since we could use custom names. (I suggested that this should be a patch-part, so all talked about the same vehicles.

About no. 1. I´ll suggest that. :)

3. The heliports is for use in big cities with little or no space. I don´t think that will fit in with the airport. But that´s my two cents.

Hay Wezz6400 your back. Haven´t seen you in a while.

Without the patch TTD would have died a long time ago I think. Without NT support little people would play it. I mean who still uses Windows 98. Think realistic!

No offence to people that still do :D

well in december 2001 i used Win98 (free copy from work), then i bought Win XP home
i am happy with it

i saw it, maybe you can be my spokesman too, for whatever reason, my proxy server doesn´t allow me to post on a (that one = alt.games.microprose.transport-tycoon) newsgroup, i tried outlook express, i tried your Xnews
nothing works, it´s not that i can´t post it , it´s when i sent it to the server, he complains
i will have to figure that out when my brother visits me

i think what he was trying to say is this: when a helicopter lands on an airport , the planes can´t land either, they wait in the air
so if you could attach the heliport to the airport then both could land at the same time :))
from what i know of programming, this can´t be difficult to change ;)
look at it now: you can attach train-bus-truck station to an airport !

Heliports should have thier own sign. Train stations have their own signs, Bus stations have their own signs, Lorry stations have their own signs, Docks have thier own sign, Airports have their sign (which stands for a heliport as well). You can select bus or lorry station from the road build menu, so why not the same for heliports and airports?

In 1.8.2 alpha 14 (September 27, 2002):
entered translations for the new ship names
ship loading/unloading now 10 units at a time for better display of loading state
TTDPatch waits for a key after displaying any error messages to keep window open
fixed screenshots under Windows, *again* (probably still won´t work under nt/2k/xp)
"invalid segment length" error now suggests deleting ttdload.ovl
Cht: ReloadEngines to load updated engine data (year of introduction and climates set by "newships" or TTDAlter)
fix ships temporarily displaying loading graphics when arriving at a buoy
Marcin: dates before 1950 should no longer crash the game
Marcin: wooden bridges are available even in very early years

hm, some things to test here !

I will rebuild my cfg file and start a new fresh game with lots of water, just to test out the loading part. :P

Are there any new graphics in this one?

Edit: Ahh, no, but the new ships are there :)

ok this is my list of the 14 patch
1. ship loading/unloading now 10 units at a time for better display of loading state ok they are loading 1000 liters at a time ? is this ok ?
2. TTDPatch waits for a key after displaying any error messages to keep window open ? what does this do ? i still see the red box in the upper right corner ?
3. fixed screenshots under Windows, *again* (probably still won´t work under nt/2k/xp)i hope it meant control-S because this is what i got: In TTDLOADW.OVL is een fout opgetreden en moet worden afgesloten. Onze excuses voor dit ongemak

: this works, i had an SH30 as my last train, i used TTDalter and changed the T.I.M. from 1985 to 1966 (this is my game year), then i started the game and used a sign , put ´Cht: ReloadEngines´ and i saw the new train in my vehicles list !
6. fix ships temporarily displaying loading graphics when arriving at a buoy : ok, i didn´t see anything so i think it is fixed ?
7. Marcin: dates before 1950 should no longer crash the game : very strange, i used ´Cht: Year 1949´ and it re-set the game to 1949 ? i added a sreenie of this, suddenly all my vehicles have zero or minus profit , i still have what i earned so far, so it is like a restart !coooooool
8. Marcin: wooden bridges are available even in very early years yes , this works, i started a new game and in january 1950 i can build wooden bridges

so for me patch 14 works, but if there are any other new bugs, i don´t know :D

When is 1.8.2 coming out? I went to http://www.ttdpatch.com and it wasn´t there. Only 1.8.1.

You may build the new ships, but they haven´t got the new graphics yet.
