New Industries?

Post by maartena »

With the amazing job the OpenTTD team and all other independant developers have done, I am wondering whether it is possible to add more industries (and graphics for it) to the current set of industries.

I am thinking of something like a Uranium Mine and a Nuclear Power Plant or something new like that. Is it even possible, or are the number of industries limited?

If limited, is there room for expansion in the Alpine or Desert type scenarios? I believe there are less industries there.

Also, is it possible at all to change a whole terrain set? For instance, remove the toyland terrain alltogether and change it to a whole new set. I believe the "temperate" set is based on England, the "tropic" set on South America, and the "alpine" set based on Germany/Austria.

An African based terrain with things like Coffee, Aluminium, Gold, Copper could be interesting. Or an American terrain with Cotton farms, Corn farms, Gold mines in the West, Coal mines in the east, Steel to Car Plants, Cars to Cities, etc....

Is it even possible to change TT files that deeply, or can't it be done at all?

You might try searching for the words new and industry; there's a different relatively recent thread whose title contains both words.

Fewer. Industries are countable, hence "fewer". "Less" is for things that can't be counted. If "one $FOO" is logically valid, use "fewer", otherwise use "less".

Oh, right. That's already been done.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

The "Alpine" or Sub-arctic is based on North America, as shown by the locomotives you can use.
