Low speed?

At that time, freight trains had speeds of 30 to 45 km/h.

Apart from that, the T16 had been designed for steep grades (33%0) - as we all know an essential condition for the dutch lowlands. 8)

I know, but at the time the Dutch railways really were able to put them into service there were already electrical and diesel engines making their appearance. The 9600's were set aside with defects more than that they pulled trains. Besides, there were the 6300 engines :)

But the 6300 is a 2-4-2, right? So, quite a different engine than a 0-5-0 like the 9600...

Maybe it would be sensible to ditch it for historical reasons, but I think it could be useful to have a strong steamer like the 9600 in the set. It's true that there aren't so many steep lines in the Netherlands ;) but, if one plays a random game in a mountainous land with the Dutch Set, such an engine could really come in handy.

There´s still the 4700 in the set with a max tractive effort of 163kN. That´s not much difference.

In my humble spare time i checked aboutt he older dutch trains especially tractive effort. Although there are formulas to calculate it, its really hard to find accurate data. I suggest making a rule of thumb and use of the german and/or uk train data. If we come up with new data we can always add that later on. That way we have a released trainset, maybe not perfect but accurate enough and playable (another important aspect)

In regard to future trains i have contacted the NS but so far they have not replied yet. We should up to now just use a but of our imagination in regard to that. Maglevs are of course an option so are more HST, and longer freight trains (betuweroute trains)
We should also try some short lightrail trains. If we have come to that we can conclude the first version of the dutch trainset!

In regard to the data if needed i could provide some educated guesses, but i think others are far more qualified for it.

Can I sugest to continue this discussion in the original topic (see my sig). And having information is one thing, having a finished Dutch trainset is something totally different.
