If I could understand how to make new graphics...

Post by cmd_srui »

If I could understand how to make new graphics, wich I do not. I tried.... all i know is to decode.....
...anyway, here's an ideia: why not substitute the deault maglev track grfs for a TransRapid kind... it would be... monorail, and maglev at the same time ;)

btw, is it possibel, to have bridges that accept both rail and road traffic?
sort of level crossing tiles... when a train is not passing, road vehicles get to pass....
or, for example bridges that open for a ship to pass?

It just came to my mind!

Download the latest alpha patch and TTDPatch Starter from my sig. Since alpha 20 or so there is the unified maglev switch, which you can set so that all maglev trains run on monorail too, and so that there is a special track type with overhead wires for you electric trains like the SH40.
So far for your Transrapid idea.
I thik the bridges are very difficult to implement, but I'm not sure about that.

You can try to encde and decode with the GRF Wizard, in case you dislike the command line prompt, like me.

For transrapid, it's a very good idea. Is it what I think ?

For example, in France, classic railroads are limited to 160 km/h (some part are little more speed (180 km/h) but by physical limitation and traffic regulation, main part of the railroad is limited to 160 km/h.

But TGV railways hove not this limitation. TGV trains can cruise up to 300 km/h on it. These two railways systems are interconnected, so TGV can go on normal railways system, but at 160 km/h only.
These two systems are interconnected, but only high speed trains can run on hisgh speed raiways (TGV, Thalys and Eurostar) because electric cable are higher (or lower ???) than on classical railsystem and only hight speed train can adapt to the two systems.

Do TT engine program can manage this ? It may very realistic if it would be :)

For graphic change on screen, a good way to differenciate classical railways and high speed railways is to may grey balast, as it is used here, in France: there is a grey balast and not wood fixation system but concrete fixations system.

that reminds me of somthing I tried recently...
I had my rail network half electrified but I wanted to make a coal hauling train to cover a great distance... so I needed speed. But, it covered sections with and withour overhead catenary.
So I just made a consist with a diesel engine at the head and an electric engine.

I thougt that I would get increased speed only under catenary (wich would be realistic) but I got it all the way. And the encrease was made at the percentage of the electric engine speed and not the Diesel

It's something that I would like to see :)
