Whats up with the websites? I can't resolve the base domain name right now, no svn.openttd.org or anything else. Known and being worked on?

Yes, I noticed that, I wasn't sure if it was just my internet company, (they have a bad international link). Firefox just says: "www.openttd.org could not be found. Check the name and try again"
I'm A Cobra (or so the rumours go) :)
Get OpenTTD, It's awesome!!

Some other people I know have been having the same problems. The reason is this article: http://ask.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid= ... 7&from=rss

Ive encountered it myself on a run with tracert (was trying to track down an offender of a website im running) as the trace was disrupted with this message from a level3.net backbone router "destination host unreachable"

Only way to get around the problem is to use a proxy that isnt affected, hence I had to set up a proxy 2 nights ago for a friend so she could browse some pages she likes to visit using my connection.
Siggy not gonna work unless someone allows javascripting...

ahh... I read on http://www.tweakers.net (it's a dutch slashdot.org :) ) about the 'war' between Level3 and Cogent :) Didn't expect OpenTTD would be affected thanks to it....

Don't be silly. The ISP that hosts the servers for OpenTTD do have multiple uplinks. Any ISP that hasn't is silly.

To respond to the topic starter: the problem is rather simple:

The ISP had a power-blackout, and the backup generator couldn't keep up the needed power for the time the power was out. So.. after a while all servers just stopped working. About 12 hours ago the power kicked back in, but too bad, the server didn't reboot how it should. Because it is Saturday it is kind of hard to get enough personal in, and because of the amount of servers that are hosted there, my request is going to take some more minutes. Short: I am doing my best to get the server back online ASAP.

Because the server is down, and we are in the process of moving stuff around, those services are down:

DNS (which you notice the most, because all openttd.org domain resolving is down)
Main Web
Master SVN

What is still working:

Nightlies
Wiki
MasterServer
Backup SVN

That is, if you can reach it by the lack of DNS :)

All problems will be solved in the near future. Currently we are placing new servers and I started a coop with MiHaMiX, which will allow us to mirror every service we have. This means that DNS will have a primary and secondary, but also the webpage will be mirrored (and load-balanced). For those who are interested in this process, soon we will create a page where will we explain the whole topology of the OpenTTD-network, which is getting bigger every day ;) (mostly tnx to Orudge and MiHaMiX)

Enough talking, more answer then you ever needed ;)

Instructions to use the MasterServer w/o DNS would be nice.

1) Obtain the IP
2) Attempt to connect to the IP
3) Cross your fingers

Nothing has changed, so just wait a while. If you are really desperate Google probably have a cache of near enough everything.

Its a dedicated linux server running fedora core 4.... currently running a website with over 6000 users and only using 1% cpu... just running top uses more power than php and httpd combined. I know how much cpu a dedicated server uses.. Im also the server admin for lanfanatics... which hosts large lan parties...

Yeah. That would be the problem. Surely someone knows the IP?
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.
