Just an idea...

Post by RadiumActinide »

Edit: I totally posted this in the wrong forum guys...This was meant for the developement forum...Guess I accidentally clicked on Graphics.

Let me start off by sayin' you guys did a fantastic job with Transportation Tycoon. I had the original for a while, and after searching around for things to enhance gameplay, I found you guys...And wow! What a revamp of the game. I've wanted to see a lot of things done with the game, and you guys covered most of them...That said, I do have a few suggestions.

I don't know if this bugs you guys, but the way the AI builds it's towns is appaling. This is maybe considered a cheat, but I think placeable town buildings should be incorporated into the game. This way you can fix the town AI's little ugly mistakes...One particularly being the roads that seemingly fall right off into the ocean:

Roads seemingly to run into the ocean have been around since the original game, and since nobody actually had any complaints about it, it never got "fixed" as it was never seen as a bug. Just like in reality its quite possible to build a road right up or next to a shoreline. You could see them as boat ramps if you want :)

It is not a cheat, you (the player) are also able to build roads and rail on the shoreline. You dont really need placeable buildings to correct this cosmetic issue... you can just use the road removal tool to remove the road section, as well as modify the intersection next to it. This gives a high chance that on the next cycle a building will be placed there. Or just buy the square if you feel lazy to keep checking.

As far as I can tell you end up having "en route to" goods at stations you dont want them to be. Try removing the (unload) flag for those stations. Cargo will be unloaded if there is a demand for it. Pretty much the only use for th unload flag is if you are setting up some feeder service.
Siggy not gonna work unless someone allows javascripting...

RadiumActinide, you mean no shoreline roads, just like on the attached screenshot?

If yes, I've attached a diff I've made so towns won't build roads to the ocean - I think town can place an useful building there instead

I'm sorry but this doesn't really work properly.

The roads are being created to-ocean during the map generation (but they do not in editor's expanding or in-game)
The bridges are not being built in-game (but they are during the map generation)

Needs fixing... Maybye some experienced developer can look into town_cmd.c

Nope, it is happening in-game, too.
And I don't think it is a bug at all... but maybe it is just me. :)
