You may want to start a Shoutcast radio. It's digital streaming media for Winamp... it should be @ http://www.shoutcast.com/waradio

I have no idea about how to set up the radio station, but I know that shoutcast would probably be your best approach... BUT you'd better be sure you have permission to transmit other people's music :-)
It would also be best to keep the quality of the music down a bit, so people won't have irritating glitches and pauses in the music... that will keep away the customers :-)

Otherwise the winamp thing is to list radio not to do one or i missed something, otherwise i read a few things about it and keeppin the music to 128 or 192 is good enough, after that i just need to know what rights i have to buy to be able to diffuse them on the net and then on the waves. but i still dont know how to do it.

edit: Im gona check shoutcast someone else told me to use it so there must be something somewere.

Yeah shoutcast lists radio's, but it's also a form of streaming media :)

and spiff meant "You did do a search on the net, didn't you?" Be sure to search the net, since it'll be FULL of tutorials on how to setup a radio station :-)

I use ShoutCast on MP3Violation Radio (http://www.mp3violation.com/radio/ - the server is at http://www.mp3violation.com:8000/). MP3Violation Radio hasn't launched officially yet, but you may catch a test stream now and then.

Here's some ideas on that:

You may just want to place some of those free advertisements in supermarkets (here in Holland we have boards where you can pin down your messages to other people) and scout for bands that you can then broadcast... otherwise, you'll have to find investors and get contracts with record labels, I think... I don't really know for sure though... I'm not experienced with radio :-)

I know how to setup a streaming station. But I warn you its a bad idea these days.

RIAA will come after you for money. Because RIAA are money hungary, greedy fat cats they'll come after you for a lot of money.

RIAA have killed internet radio. They demand that you pay 7 US Cents PER Song PER person.

So if 1000 people are tuned into 1 song you owe RIAA $0.70

So unless you want to start a talk radio station or host undiscovered acts. I'd think again.

Since when does RIAA have the right to ask money for such a thing... If you simply get permission to broadcast from a record label by paying for a contract or something like that, RIAA shouldn't have anything to complain right??

Basically, read the documentation and the configuration file - it's all documented in there.
