Competition - Map 3 - Northern Germany Steel

Post by Severous »

Hi

Here is scenario three in the interlinked interforum locomotion competition.

This scenario continues our theme of exercising different vehicle skills. Narrow gauge rail and Lorries this time. Making Steel in northern Germany and hauling it to the factory (Mercedes plant?) near Bremen.

Scenario can be played as an easy stand alone game and requires no mods.

The competition scoreboard is here on these links with thanks to OldTimer:
English Scoreboard http://www.oldtimer-uk.com/loco/id20.htm
German Scoreboard http://www.oldtimer-uk.com/loco/id22.htm
(Click on any name for the screenshot of that players game).

Same rules etc as before.

Outline on submissions:

- Deadline is midnight 10 Sept for top three claims.
- We all have until midnight 30 Sept to improve our games (or join in late) but we cannot displace the top three.
- Submission must be screenshot showing:
a) view of your most important station
b) lorry list showing reliability and sorted by profits
c) factory production graph which effectively shows steel moved each month (or monthly cargo moved graph)
d) table that shows totals of all cargos moved. Will show total steel moved
e) exact date. Hover mouse over date in bottom right.
f) Map view.

Well done dave61. Thats the first submission ive seen. Keep going though. Its not the first to 1000 steel...its who has the most steel hauled by the end of 5 years.

First point to dave61

My first attemptm is still underway...and the 1000 mark came up when I couldnt keep up with Steel supply.

Map3 - AI Bus route causes even more havoc

Post by Severous »

Cheers dave61. I see you have the AI helping or is it hindering you.

In this case below the AI bus is definately hindering me. My already chaotic use of the existing wooden bridges has just got a whole lot worse as an AI bus cuts right across my main roads. Time for some sabotage

AFAIK it's not made any difference this time but it did cause trouble a few times with the East Anglian challenge: roads blocking diagonal rail routes and so on. Can I suggest that you switch AI off for any further challenges (I hope there are some) so that a random variable is eliminated.

I've done map 3 on my own way.
This isn't done for the competition, but only for comparison.
I added a steel car for the narrow gauge with Locomod and used no lorries.
The vehicles were also heavily modded, for power, speed and payload was set for 25 ton for each wagon.
( I don't like to change every time my objdat for competition.)
I used "founding industries", but only ore mine one raised production in the last month, so no advantage at all with this mod.
Track laying is very expensive so steel transport was used only from halfway 1968.
Could have loaned more, but i thought i was on the limit already.( i wasn't).
All mines had two stations.
9 trains used in total.
The game cost me 1 hour playtime, most done in accelerated time.
No micromanegement work for me.
There for a full loaded steel train arrived 2 day to late at my factory. :'(
Oh, and my steel score is a bad 2450 ton.

Attempt 3

Post by dave61 »

Well this is my final attempt. Not too much trouble from competitors although truck AI drives me bonkers, however the unusual road arrangement outside the depot is used for waypoints which did help a bit.

Half way through the two month competition.

http://img178.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... aug3ux.png

This shows the points for each player totalled across the 1 2 or 3 maps they have submitted entries for. A lot of players are improving their play by trying a map more than once. Whilst others are playing only those they fancy. Competition is designed to accomodate this and late entries.

A couple of tt.forum players have earned more points. Just waiting on the screenshot to be tweaked.

We are on lorries at the moment. To be a top three player on the current lorry map your entry has to be in by the end of next week as detailed elsewhere. Some steep learning curves for players braving them.

Airplanes will be the core of the last of our four linked scenarios.

Good screenshot and result Airline. Third place overall.

There is until the end of next week to declare the top three players on this leg of the 4 part competition.

The map, like all the others, remains open until the end of September. So anyone can join in or improve on a previous total. Only the top three places are set and protected at the end of next week.

Jürgen

Thank you for the submission.

I make that 14th out of 19 entries. 6 Points.

800 tons more needed for 13th place. 1400 tons ahead of 15th.

You have my favourite colour..dark green. I cant say the same about the lorries. They were not my favourite form of transport. I enjoyed the narrowgague trains most on that map. Had more of those than on any other map I remember ever playing.
