Re: Vimp and Dom,
The speed on diagonal tracks is less than on straight tracks hor. and vert..
I'm not sure, but there was a post that mentioned the top speed on it is 96 km\h.
An other reason is that i don't like the looks of diagonal tracks.
Also the trains don't look right on that parts.

If I'm correct this also makes me third
I know I can do better, this is my 3rd attempt and it's always the same thing
I start with the closest one and try to get 2 trains as fast as possible, then I lay tracks to the second mine, by this time, the 1st mine raises production
I add 2 trains there and start 2 trains on the 2nd mine, now I work on the network around my 1st mine , it will raise once more, when I have enough I quickly lay tracks to the furthest mine and start a single line that connects on my second mine network
That way I can start a train so that mine won't decrease production
This happened in my first 2 games, but this time I was quicker
Around here I keep adding trains when mines raise and make networks better and add more track when money comes available
So I always get the first mine to around 3000 tonnes, always
But the other 2 just won't raise, it's strange, I use the same techniques, 2 stations, 100 % transport of iron ore, one will raise to around 500 tonnes, if it's not the 2nd one, then it's the 3rd one
If I don't get 3rd place, I'll try a 4th time

Spaceman-spiff, I'm sorry to say so, but your latest submission with this nice total is not within the rules.
At Kingston Apon Thames / Maidenhead you used a trick to build your station. The idea is good, but unfortunately, it's not allowed by the "Fair-play rules" that apply for this competition. See here: http://www.expressworldforum.com/cgi-bi ... 409488/0#8
So your submission cannot make it onto the list.. You'll need to have another go today or tomorrow to improve your previous result and move to a Top3 position!
Regards,
Larry

Well I never read that crap, cause I never cheat, now isn't that a bugger, I spend all my time trying to play normally and you spoil it all
There goes my interest like a TGV passing by, ..........................
I just hope you check all the other games

Top 3 submissions will have to upload their savegames for inspection by everyone, also there will be chosen three players at random who'll have to send their game.
But I think this is not your actual point..
I don't want to be a killjoy here, but the rules are there to be observed. But I realise that a disqualification of your latest submission might be a bit hard. I'm waiting for other's comments on your game before I decide what to do with it.. But I ask you in any case not to use this trick in further games please.

Its hard to gauge how much of an effect his using that technique had. He would have certainly saved a fair bit of money since he didn't have to make a ton of bridges or level the river, which, depending on how strapped for money he was at the time, would have potentially had a significant effect on how quickly he started to transport iron from that mine and therefore also how quickly its production would have been increased if it did increase at all.
I would imagine that the most difference had he done it the right way would have been perhaps 10,000 less iron (pure speculation on my part though) and would therefore be of consequence only to Count Moriarty and Feldhase's ranks.
I would be inclined to suggest some leeway though seeing as there was no single post with all the rules mentioned in it. Basicly there was a thread and various posts throughout the thread mentioned different rules that all had to be adhered to. As it was, the first mention of the "fair rules" in relation to this competition was only mentioned in the 7th post down in the "Competition: Details & Rules" thread. All applicable rules should have been listed right in the first post of that thread in all fairness.

The technique Spiff used is only useful if you can connect 2 or more mines to one station.
Because this isn't the case here he has absolutely no benefit of this.
Only thing you can remark is that building on the south side of the waterway, you don't need to build bridges.
But this is the last mine which people build in this scenario, so money is absolutely not of any importance in that year.
So Spiff didn't have any benefits on building this way, so i approve his score.
Edit: he made an other game and proves he can reach the top again.

187576 tons
Man that was painful. My tracks were a complete mess.
This one took much more efforts than the other attempts since two mines went nuts simultaneously, but the score is pretty cool!

Hum.. if there are unusual production rates, this will arouse my attention. But I don't think we can really check this.
I sincerely hope nobody found the need to cheat this way...
Medal winners for map1 can be declared now: Congratulations to Saed, RobH and Count Moriarty!
Their savegames will be up soon here: http://www.expressworldforum.com/cgi-bi ... 1123979645
Might give some of us some ideas to improve our own games. If you find anything suspicious in any of these games, please let me know!
Map 2 is up for download now in a new thread! New results for map 1 are still welcome, the best you can do now is to get on 4th place however!
EDIT: Great total ADN! Could we have a look at your top-trains also, please, so Severous' screenshot-requirements can be met

My savegame is already posted on the link above given by Larry. If you find anything suspicious in it, please also let me know
as well as Larry!
Regarding industry production rates, isn't Loewe 13 the expert on undustries, so he should be able to tell us if something looked unusual in a game.
Looking forward to Round 2 and more of a challenge from tt-forum members
