Saved Games

Post by Whiskers »

I'm really impressed with how stable this program is, but like many people i sometimes do other things on my computer during breaks while playing this, like using microsoft software such as their evil web browser. These seem less stable it seems.

Anyway, I save the game and have a few trains up that have new routes i have built but haven't been tested yet. Let's face it, we make mistakes, the trains need to be tested to make sure there isn't a signal pointing the wrong way. Something other than OpenTTd causes the computer to crash. Boom. It a real pain in the tail now to track down those trains you just worked. If they were totally new it wouldn't be, but often for me i'm working with trains that were point to point to preserve industry and now i am trying to network, so who knows what train it was.

When saving games, it would be really nice if the current open windows status was saved as well so when you came back you were truly back at the same spot.

A good workaround, of course, would be to use a modern browser, such as Firefox. It's the most stable browser with good potential to defeat MSIE completely. It's probably available in your own language.
If builders built building the way programmers wrote programs, then the first woodpecker that came along would destroy civilization

this requires alterations to the save file structure though, which is currently being worked on.

this is probably the best time to pull it out of the hat, devs wouldn't want to try altering something they've just completed after a few months of work.
JPG SUX!!! USE PNG!!!
There are times when JPG is useful, TTD screenshots is not one of them. Please use PNG instead.
