Centre location button

Post by lucaspiller »

You may have seen my patch on SF or in the Integrated Nightly that adds a few things to the small map. The recent versions have also added a button so that you can centre* the location of the small map to that of the real map. I have had ago and made an icon, but not being a good graphics artist it doesn't really fit in, or look very obvious, so I was wondering whether anyone else would has any suggestions for anything better?

* The code doesn't quite work as planned yet.

make it use the lower land icon. Then you don't have to get a new openttd.grf committed as well, when so many others are maling openttd.grf related things.

That icon has two problems
1. It doesn't say 'centre map'
2. Its other use is lower land, and is thus confusing.

It is a good idea, but I am afraid it wouldn't really do. They eye icon as it is isn't big enough, so would have to be resized / changed - but then this would have to be redistributed, which probably would be copyright infringement. And no, my graphical skills aren't good enough to make a new eye... :P

I am thinking possibly a ground tile and a crosshair over it (like an aim), maybe I'll give it a try and post here (although I know nothing about the TTD palette...)

So, I did a quick mockup of my idea. See if you like it... maybe someone can draw it better then :P

Why not use the eye icon? That centres in every other instance.

If you are doing a new icon for this, can we change all the eye icons so that we have some consistency?
