TTDX from the Tycoon Collection Pack the same as the single
Hi,
I saw a TTDX in the store the other day in a single pack, low budget
price. I wonder, is this one the same as the version which is included
in the Tycoon Collection pack (which is the windows9. enhanced
version)? It didn't say on the outside of the pack and the store
attendants couldn't tell.
Thanks

"windows compliant", it's in my opinion very unlikely that it's the new
windows version. Where i saw it, it was always combined with Railroad Tycoon
2 and Rollercoaster Tycoon....

It seems to be the same version they are all selling. I wonder if they took
TTD from the Tycoon Pack and are trying to make a profit on it by selling it
separately.

TTD's, rather than the Windows version, because on all of them, they say
requires DOS 5.0 and above. Although this could include Windows. The boxes
on them all look like the old TTD as well. The Tycoon Collection TTD has a
different box doesn't it?

Lurking in USA here. My ever diligent wife found me a copy of TTDX on
E.bay for a ridiculous price of $5.50.
That's after missing an auction on one that went for $9.99.
In any event I'm enjoying building the rails.
BTW.....I get absolutely NO sounds or music on my machine. Laptop Fujitsu
Lifebook. I'm going to go looking for the Autoexe. and the
Config.sys....where could they be now.?

I think the info you're after you can find in the
autoexec.bat (view it in Notepad or something similar). Look
for a line starting "SET BLASTER=....". If it's not there,
you should be able to find your sound card info by delving
into the Device Manager.

Unless you ahve strange hardware that windows 95 doesn't understand (a
fijutsu notbook sounds like a hotbed of such items actually) using a
config.sys file forces the OS to use "compatibility" drivers with a
corresponding loss in performance.
The autoexec file on a 95 system should also be minimal. On 95 I load doskey
(for a command history in dos boxes and a working insert), set a few
enviroment variables (BLASTER and DIRCMD) and be done with it.
Your experience may differ, and if you are unsure about your ability to fix
it, don't risk it.
On the other hand - go ahead - the worst that can happen is you will have to
format and reinstall losing all your data - which you should be prepared for
anyway, as (esp in laptops - easy to drop by accident) every harddrive will
eventually crash, so there is a 100% guarantee that you will one day lose
your data - make backups, be brave, experiment - find out now, rather than
later that your backups don't work
