Anyone playing with toys?

Post by Herman »

Hi everyone,

(back from vacation :-))

Just wondering, does anyone play with the toy/candy scenario's? Never
hearing anyone about that here.

Just speaking for myself: nah, it ain't 'real life' ;-)

Cheers,
Herman

Hi everyone,
Hi

(back from vacation :-))
In the middle of winter? Or back from a Christmas/New Years vacation?

Just wondering, does anyone play with the toy/candy scenario's? Never

hell no! Its totally unprofitable and the towns suck..they are worse then
desert/snowy towns. And the slower vehicles do not interest me...not worth
my time.
Just speaking for myself: nah, it ain't 'real life' ;-)
Most of the games on the gamer market aren't "real life"
hell, all of them are.. hehehe :)

Hi Herman,

Well I've just been playing it for the first time. I started a thread last
week on the disapearance of Toy shops (have you noticed they keep closing
down). It proved several people also play this climate too.

I have to say after a while it started to grow on me (I think the liquorice
allsort trees helped), Mmmmm where is the nearest sweet shop....

Regards,
Steve.

My wife does. She gets annoyed with the Toy Shop bug!

Yes, both my housemates play Toytown only ... but I don't think they've
ever got beyond about 1970 before losing interest and starting a new
game.

Strange enough I never played with the sweetness of the Toy scenery.
What's cool about it? And what's the biggest profit making item in this
scenery.
To give you a clue what sceneries I like: Power Mad is absolutely my all
time favorite, the one with all the gold mines is second.

Hi there,

Well, winter in Holland can be cold. Since I like the sun more then the
cold, we went to Thailand for a roundtrip of 3 1/2 weeks. We spend Christmas
as well as new year there. New year was great, just imagine us (approx 14)
in the jungle, no electricity, no warm water, just some candles to celibrate
new year. We brought ourselves some fireworks, and we had to ask the 'local
chief' to fire them. the whole village ran out to see us (that were 20
persons). Just great. The illegal whiskey was great too :-))))))))

Did you ever give it a good look? My guess is that the economics are just
the same all over in the game. Or is this a very stupid statement? :-)

Yes, plenty looks. The towns just scare me away. And the fact that the
trains hardly EVER advance. Which in my mind, destroys the whole purpose.
My guess is that the economics are just
the same all over in the game.
Basically for the industries, they are. Use the ingame graphs to tell the
profits, write em down. Load up a normal game and compare.
Or is this a very stupid statement? :-)
You said it, not me. I take the fifth.

I've noticed that you never get any new buildings in toyland. All the
other game types get new buildings later in the game that offer A LOT more
passengers and mail and make such routes profitable. In toyland you're
stuck with the same low capacity buildings the whole way through, it makes
passenger routes almost impossible, and I wouldn't be surprised if industries
produce less in toyland than compared to their equivalents.

So, yeah, the economics probably work the same, but lower production makes
it A LOT less profitable.

Yip, I noticed that too. Since I've just finished putting a web page on all
the buildings in toyland.
http://freespace.virgin.net/steven.lale ... bldtl.html
I found all buildings after the first 25 years.

You can see the pop. figures etc for all the buildings. Not one goes above
100,
compared to others in different climates. Then again, this is the toyland
climate.
