The point is that someone might be able to help. There are
quite a few people on this newsgroup who speak languages
other than English. If nobody understands... too bad.

Incidentally, what does TBH stand for? (Is it foreign?!!!)

It does limit debate though if only one person understands. Then you don't
get the benefit of everyones opinions.

Hmm.. probably due to the lack of local railways...

Not true. There are extensive local systems in all the major cities.
In other newsgroups, I bore for Spain on the virtues of the Valencia
Metro. There are also country lines, mainly in the north and (yippee)
the east. These are usually narrow gauge and are the target of
pilgrimages for Northern European railfans.

My local line is metre gauge, and has a "friends" association, most of
whom are foreign!

There is one real rail enthusiast club that I know of in Spain, and that is
"Amics del Ferrocarril" in Barcelona. They have (or had) rooms at a peanut
rent from RENFE in the Estacio de Franca, there and own at least one
preserved broad gauge steam engine.

What's worse, the pigeons are so bad at the language
themselves, they can't even spell their names correctly. For
some reason, they all call themselves "pidgins"... (If you
don't get it, ask a linguist!)

For more language-related laughs, try out AltaVista's "Babel
Fish" translation tool. It's quite impressive up to a point,
but... For instance, when I tried translating my site, every
instance of my name got replaced by the word "microphone".
(Is it trying to tell me something?!) Still, it looks pretty

the corridors
4) Said Cumbria was boring
5) said half of his friends were gay,
