Oh dear, I feel a wave of sarcasm...

I'm using a computer, connected to the net, from which I download my
newsgroups, with OE5 of course. And then I use my eyes, and then my brain.

My ISP does suck, but there's nothing I can do about it.

What a defeatist attitude! There should be plenty that you
can do about it. For instance, forward a copy of the spams
to your ISP's abuse mail address (in your case, it should
be a...@theplanet.net if I read the headers correctly) and
the abuse mail address specified in the header of each spam.
If nothing else, it means that someone else can have a good
laugh... :-)

Also, have you tried asking them why you get so much junk
while everyone else doesn't? Threaten to switch to another
ISP unless they take action (is there a good reason why you
haven't done this already?). Be polite, but be direct. After
all, it's *you* who are contributing to this ISP's coffers.

I'm always sending official email, especially to the BBC, who being the

I'm in a no-win situation. If I switch ISP, *I* lose out, and *they* gain.

Reason: I'm signed up to http://www.greatxscape.com Free off peak and weekend
access, when you switch to their telco. If I leave, they gain, as they no
longer have to pay for my use, and I lose, because I have to go back to
paying per minute, which I hate.

Often, I find that spammers use free mail accounts. Every
free mail provider I know forbids spamming, so if you can
work out the mail provider, write to them!

As for complaining to the website who is hosting the spammer,
do you mean the ISP? I can't think of an ISP whose rules
wouldn't include not spamming so, once again, they *should*
take action. If they don't, then there surely must be
someone to complain to... anyone have any ideas?

You send e-mail to the BBC?!? And you want a reply?!?!?!?
Just because you're forced to pay them doesn't mean that you
can expect a reasonable customer service...

What you could do, eddie, is pay a small amount a year to a service like
NewsGuy to get a newsfeed independently.
I'll use X-Stream, on 0800, as it is getting easier to get access now, and
use news.cis.cfn.de.

All of them, are on things like Geocities and The Globe. That's what I

their cover!

Screaming.net is recovering, but it isn't as good. The bas****s at
Greatxscape only sent me a nasty letter this morning

"You are using our service for more than 100 hours a month. If you do not
reduce your usage, then we will be forced to limit your free time."

Go on then. Just try it, and I'll be off to Screaming.net in a flash. It
only takes a couple of redials at the moment, and their cut off never
normally works, unlike GXS, who cut me off at precisely two hours. Maybe I
should use more of X-Stream. The main reason I go on the net is for
newsgroups, and X-Stream, who offer 0800 access - which is nearly always
engaged - don't have a news server. However, I requested this group was
added to news.cis.dfn.de and lo and behold, they have.

Hmm...I wouldn't say that. It has about 15,000 NG's on it. They will not add
any more alt.* newsgroups unless a request is made. I requested AGMTT last
Sunday and I received a reply telling me it had been added on Thursday.
The only alt hierachies that are refused are alt.binaries.* and alt.sex.*
There is a list of all the available hierachies on the site.
Can you post with it?
Yes. I haven't done so yet, but I will soon.

There was no mention of a time limit being introduced at the beginning.
However, it contained the usual "We reserve the right to edit/alter/request
money for/withdraw this offer in the future as long as we give you 14 days
notice."
And they did to all those ones who were told to leave. So there was nothing
