why do ppl hafta post in caps and queens english to be taken seriously by
you, as eddie said, this is turning nasty, and ppl don't care anymore, most
of usenet use expressions like "u" why should ppl hafta change, just for
oyu, no one else round here seems to have so much of a problem with it. and
whats this about impressing, we not trying to impress anyone, maybe you are,
but no one else cares, like eddie said, give it up, no one cares and you
wont change anyone by forcing them into it

: Fair enough. I won't flame you. But I will explain, politely I hope,
: why it's in your interests to post as clearly as you can.

: I can understand that. We all do it. I'm not that fast a typist,

:
: We can still understand you, but it takes more effort on our part.
: Also, it doesn't look professional. Because it takes more effort, we're
: less likely to read your message thoroughly. If you want to be taken
: seriously, you need to put the effort in. You want to be lazy by
: shortening, expecting us to do the work decoding.

: That's nonsense. There's nothing wrong in speaking with an accent of

: reasonably correct grammatically. Regional accents are one of the joys
: of the English language, and should be cherished.

:
: Precisely.

:
: Nobody is trying to impose any "standards". All some of us are trying
: to point out is that if you want to be taken seriously, it is in your
: own interests to post in correct English as far as you can. If those
: for whom English is a foreign language can manage it, then why can't the

:

:
: I agree to an extent, but there again if you post a badly written, badly
: spelt, badly punctuated post, it doesn't do anything to impress you to
: your intended audience.
:

:
: No, you're not. You're making your point clearly and concisely. In
: other words, a well written post! So what are you worrying about?

:
: But please don't be reluctant to talk about TT. That's what this

: Your more than welcome. And if the message I've just spent ten minutes
: replying to is typical of your level of posting, you've nothing to worry
: or apologise for! I only spend this amount of time replying to messages
: that are worth spending the time on.
