Festive greetings to all

Post by Boudewijn »

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit my best wishes for an
environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive,
gender neutral, celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within
the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or
secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular
persuasions and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice
religious or secular traditions at all .

. and a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and medically
uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar
year 2000, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other
cultures , and without regard to the race, creed, colour, age, physical
ability, religious faith, choice of computer platform, or sexual preference
of the wishee.

(By accepting this greeting, you are accepting these terms. This greeting is
subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no
alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wisher to
actually implement any of the wishes for him/herself or others, and is void
where prohibited by law, and is revocable at the sole discretion of the
wisher. This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual
application of good tidings for a period of one year, or until the issuance
of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first, and warranty is
limited to replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole
discretion of the wisher.)

And a Merry Christmas to you, and a happy new year/decade/century/millenium
to you as well. Although there is some debate over whether it is the new
millenium or not, here's the best wishes in advance anyway.

And exactly the same to everyone else on the group.

Personally I hope to be celebrating the 'millennium' :)

Sorry to be so picky but when you see it spelt with only one 'n' in foot
high letters in the middle of Sheffield you kind of notice these things a
lot more!

Anyway, in the preferred wording of Birmingham city council, happy
'Winterval"!!

Many thanks,

Nick Allan

I don't want to take away the fun, but once upon a time when beginning to
count the years the Roman emperor did start with 1 and not with 0. So the
Millenium will be on Sylvester 2000 - not now.

I see it every where and it drives me crazy! I didn't know it was wrong
until I wrote it down and someone berated be for doing so, and then I saw it
in large letters in a store front in Sheffield! Help! I'm becoming obsessed
with spelling, is there no cure? :-)

Many thanks,
