Cheating with TTDLX

Post by Herman »

Hi everyone!

I sure hope this isn't the weekly question every newbie asks :-)
But... yep I'm new to THIS newsgroup.

I have played TTDLX many years now, with VERy much pleasure, and every few
months I get addicted again and play it for many many hours. One of the best
games ever!!

But here's my question: I don't mind about results, 'winning' or
competetors. For me the game is pure fun as long as it gets to building. My
favorite are the maglev trains. Well, is there a cheat around with which I
can hop to the 2000's and/or with which I can have a lot of money to build?

Again, I don't consider it as cheating, the fun for me is to build and
improve my tracks.

Btw, in a new version there should be an option with unlimited money and
start date. :-)))

Take care,
Herman

Welcome to the group - may your visits be filled with scented wafts of
happinness.... and all that.

Anyway - the question you ask can be answered at the main TT website...

The official TTNG website:

Enjoy.
(Oh, and to skip to any year / have unlimited money, get Josefs patch - full
details at the site above....)

Hi everyone!
Many greetings and salutations! Welcome to the Newsgroup

I'm Edward Bernard, aka Eddie.
I sure hope this isn't the weekly question every newbie asks :-)

I have played TTDLX many years now, with VERy much pleasure, and every few

<PLUG ALERT!!!>

The TTNG website is the home of all of the people on here. There is loads of
great TT related stuff on there, and as Chris Locke (reply above) has said,
and put it finely, most of your TT questions, requests and stuff like that
will be answered there.
Scenarios, Screenshots, Strategy Guides, Vehicle Info, Patches,
Competitions, Links, Music and SFX and more all there, in one easy place.

http://www.ttworld.the-whale.com

Of course, there are other TT webmasters on this group who have sites, and
I'm sure they'll be ready to tell you all about them.

Your specific question is answered in the Patches section. The very first
patch by Josef Drexler.

If you want a quick rundown of the group, and the people you'll meet here,
go into The TT Newsgroup section. Also the FAQ for this group, is three
posts above this one.

</PLUG ALERT>
Again, I don't consider it as cheating, the fun for me is to build and
improve my tracks.
Yes I see your point, but very often doing stuff like this ruins a game for
me.
Btw, in a new version there should be an option with unlimited money and
start date. :-)))
We do frequently discuss future versions of TT on here, and we even have our
own TT game creator on here. His name: Peter Dobrovka. Step forth!
Take care,
Thank you very much and once again....

WELCOME!

Probably.....But don't worry about it. B-)
But... yep I'm new to THIS newsgroup.
But not NG's in general?
But here's my question: I don't mind about results, 'winning' or
competetors. For me the game is pure fun as long as it gets to building.
Yeah...I for one usually turn off the compition! (The real reasoin is that I
couldn't stand to be beaten by the AI!!
My favorite are the maglev trains.
Nah...I much prefer the Monorails...(They have better sounds!)
Well, is there a cheat around with which I can hop to the 2000's and/or
with which I can have a
lot of money to build?
Sorry...I have never heard of one. And I think the onlyu person that could
help with ther year hop would be somebody like Josef Drexler. He wrote the
best patch out for the game. If it can be done he should be able to tell
us.......Josef?
Again, I don't consider it as cheating, the fun for me is to build and

And playing further into the game makes it that much harder.
Btw, in a new version there should be an option with unlimited money and

Well If you mean a 'sandbox' type of scenario. Then yes,so do I.

Hi Trikky, Chris & Edward,

Many thanks for your warm welcome :-)
Nope, I'm not exactly a new one to newsgroups. I'm active since a few years
on usenet, and I've started in the time that BBS'es were very popular. But I
didn't know there was a TT newsgroup. actually I never searched for it :-)

I will look ad all the sites you guys recommended to me, thanks for those!!

I already have downloaded the TTDPatch, and it works just fine.

Typically I play myself almost to death every now and then, and after that I
don't play it for a few months. Strange thing, but TTDLX attracts my
attention every few months.

I also heard about a rumour that there will be a newer version. Is there
info about it on internet? You don't have to tell me all the ins and outs
:-))

Again thanks for making me feel this welcome!

Take care,
Herman

Hey no problems. That's what were here for :-)
I already have downloaded the TTDPatch, and it works just fine.
It's a good feature in that it adds lots of elements that were missing from
TTDLX.

I'd have to agree with you there. I have put TTDLX down for the moment in
the run up till Christmas, but once I get bored with any new games, I'll be
straight back to the comforts of TT!
I also heard about a rumour that there will be a newer version. Is there
info about it on internet? You don't have to tell me all the ins and outs
:-))
I very often give the details on them all, but seen as though you don't want
all the details, I'll give you a brief resume....

Transport World: Looked like the company who were going to answer everyones

3DTT, a *real* version of TT being developed. As Peter said in the post
earlier, the site is

And a third Traffic Giant. I don't know much about this, but it seems to be

There is not much to port yet, you even cannot fill a small paper with the
words used in 3DTT. I like icons much more - just as the original.
But of course there will be an English version. Maybe even the next one... -
it will take about 2 weeks until the update from now. I have a small
to-do-list that becomes smaller every day.

No. 3DTT has all features to become a top ten hit so we have to be careful
what we will do with it. There are already people interested in publishing,
I have to do some journeys in January.

Yes, with the patch you can do that. Place a sign named
"Cht: Money 10000000" and another one named "Cht: Year 2000", that's all
there is to it.

It is really too early. And I am only invited yet, we did not talk about
conditions and numbers. According to the team I will have to press out some
special conditions, because some of them declared to leave WAY-X if 3DTT
becomes too commercial.
He have a vision to make a perfect game and sometimes we discuss about 2
weeks about little things which would be decided within 10 minutes in a
profit-oriented company. Therefore you all will have to wait until 2001 I
think. Beta testers wait until end of 2000 only.

Everybody who gave feedback to the alphas will be invited to be a beta
tester.
Oh, nearly nobody from here yet...? I thought you all download it like

OK, we will see the feedback of Alpha 6.0 which has a language option.

Well, after much fiddling, tweaking, and translating, I finally got it to

a) Wrong setup options
b) My poor PC is straining at the leash to try and work the game. I think a

c) I have low system resources or too many background programs running.

This can have very different reasons. One of the most common is not to have
a 3D card or a bad/old one. I can recommend Voodoo1, Riva128 and everything
that came after these.
I'll see what happens if I turn off the fog and
trees...................................well...there was slightly more
response, but I think that maybe it's either
Fog and trees take a bit but 1/sec will not turn into 10/sec.
a) Wrong setup options
If you run the setup program it is nearly impossible because it looks for
every possible OpenGL driver on your harddisk. But there are some traps:
- If you have a Voodoo you have to choose its minigl-driver. If you choose
the Windows generic driver you get only software mode.
- If you choose a resolution too big it will run in software
- Some cards only accelerate when the color of the desktop is set to a
certain value. Riva128 (Viper330) f.e. do not like 32-bit color resolution,
Riva TNT likes it but doesn't like the 16 color resolusion.
- Some cards only accelerate in fullscreen
b) My poor PC is straining at the leash to try and work the game. I think a
233 isn't really powerful enough
A Pentium 233 is OK. But what 3D hardware do you have?
c) I have low system resources or too many background programs running.
This you know alone. But I find it the opposite way. If there are man
programs running they become all incredibly slow if tt3d.exe is running, too
(I experience this when grabbing screen shots).
