Scenario Installer Beta 1

Post by Phillip Michael Jordan »

Okay, the Beta's finished

You can download it from
http://www.computer.privateweb.at/ttdsi/ttdsi.zip (~1,7Megs, sorry)
I haven't made a Readme or anything yet
Just unzip the files to a directory and start setup.exe
Install it (yes, really!)
and start the program from the start menu or when it asks you
from then on you can double click any .SV0 Scenario file and the program
will automatically /ADD/ it to the TTD Directory. No renaming hassle or
anything

Remember this is a BETA so report any bugs you encounter to the e-mail
address in the program or just say so in the NG. I'll try to fix every
single little bug, so start searching
Oh yes, one issue:
the maximum Scenario number is 100, from then on the program always
overwrites TRT99.sv0, I'll fix that in Beta 2

Have fun
Phillip

Okay, the Beta 2 is now being uploaded.
For all of you who have already downloaded (and installed) Beta 1 there is a
ZIP file with only the new exe and of course the whole thing with the new
version

Complete Installation, etc.:
http://www.computer.privateweb.at/ttdsi/ttdsi.zip (~1.75 Megs)
http://www.computer.privateweb.at/ttdsi/ttdsiexe.zip (~10kb)

Again, if you didn't download Beta 1, then you need package 1, if you
already have Beta 1 installed, unzip the .exe to the installation directory
to overwrite the old version. You don't have to do anything else.

I haven't put in the new feature that Eddie proposed, I haven't had enough
time yet, I'll do it tonight. I hope I finish the Readme+Web Site today too,
it'll be at
http://www.crosswinds.net/~pwc/ttdsi/
It's not there yet but I just put it here in case anybody wants to put a
link onto their website.

I hope the prog's any good

Well, you've put in one of the features I proposed. The one where it tells
you that it has copied the file. However, at the risk of sounding like a
fussy bugger (!), could you please stick in the program before it says
successfully transferred, what it is going to save it in the TT directory
as. i.e. it says, "Saving scenario to TT directory as Trt??.sv0"
I hope the prog's any good
It's very useful. I need it for testing out scenarios submitted to TTWorld.

This one rules! Well done! But there's one bug:
When selecting the directory of TTDX, it won't
let me choose subdirectories. I have TTDX installed
in d:\pelit\ttdx. I had to manually edit that key from
the system registry.

Really?
Funny, I have mine in c:\MPS\TTDLX and it works fine! Try double-clicking
the directories.

That should work

Its handy, but I'd like a scenario manager... ie, what scenarios have I
installed, and which ones can be removed...

I love programming in VB, and just played with extracting names from the
scenario, etc, etc.

Before I dabble in this, is there already a proggy out there to do this??
(Wouldn't want to tread on anyones toes....)
Would others find this useful??? (this program, that is - not me treading on
their toes....)

I tried, but double-clicking only closed the window.

Heehee I'm just working on this, so it might be better if only one of us did
it...

Thats why I checked!!
The way is paved for you, my good Sir.

Oh, and I want it to manage saved games too - not just scenarios.
Thank you!!

Oh, and just out of curiousity - what are you programming in?

Quoteth Chris Locke earlier post...

"I love programming in VB"

There's your answer! Philip has done this great program in Visual Basic.

Oh sorry - it was my fault. I was so stupid that
I only clicked once! :) lol... I was testing it so
quickly and didn't know.

VB 5
At the moment I don't know any better Windows programming language, C/C++ is
too much to learn and Delphi is just different, a few things are better a
few aren't possible (DirectX AFAIK)
