Well, I was going to post maybe it uses a magnifying glass to achieve

such remarkable results, but last time I responded to a spam I had to
call the fire brigade as it went to all the sites the spammer spammed.
Pot, kettle, black etc. However this only seems to have come here so ...

AFAIK not having tested such a device personally the effects are at
best temporary and if not careful can cause permanent damage to the
digit in question.
