[OT] Avoiding spam...

Post by Steve »

I don't want to spam, but since people seem to not like ICQ (Isn't it funny how
things that crash on other people's computers work on mine, like ICQ and
Netscape? Must be because mine is American built...) then send me an e-mail to
keep spam down on here.

Hmm...where did you get that idea from that most people hate ICQ? A lot of
people on here have it and use it regularly.

Send you an email? And what would this do? How would it keep spam down on
here?

Is this a cleverly disguised spam trap ;-)

I was attempting to avoid spam on this newsgroup by discussing things over
e-mails.

Obviously, you two felt the need to post anyway.

I wish there were more Americans here... I can relate much better to them than
you.

Well.....The best thing to do would be to introduce a few friends to it....
You have a few friends that play TT?
You have a few friends that have an internet connection?

Bang...There you go......Thats that out of the way.....

Oh and why would you relate to yanks better than us ?
I know that language translations is sometimes a problem but only as far as
it would be for Anyone not of your home country.

I think that it must be a yank mentality....(Or maybe a british one?)

Easy. The general message that 'ICQ sucks' put in almost every post about ICQ.

Easy, too. If you sent me an e-mail, it would keep the resulting heated debate
OFF the news group and away from the complaints of spam of the nice people on
here.

And it's only a spam trap if you want it to be one. ;)

Does anyone else find that the term 'Yank' has a pleasing
self-gratification insult built in? Or is it just me? ;-)
Why do you think I used it?

Oh and what do the Yanks call us? Lymies? (Genuinley don't know!)

It's the culture. 'Yanks' and 'Brits' are much different than outsiders think
they are. (I once heard someone from Germany say that going from Germany to
Austria was like going to the house next door, like an American going to the
UK). Heh. No.

Language may be the only thing similar...

I have probs with spam since, as a lot of people here, alter my e-mail
address.
If you want for any reason (?) to email me, don't forget to remove all the
numbers from my address.

Lymies? What in the heck?

No, we don't have a specific word to call you... instead, we laugh when you use
silly sounding words and speak with a silly accent. More effective.

I'm not British, and you are (methinks), but wasn't that "Limeys", like in
