Josef's Patch
Josef's Patch
I've just got round to downloading Josef's patch, and from the
readme.txt file, it looks like I haven't wasted my time. There is one
slight problem, though. It won't work.
Whenever I run ttdpatch.exe, I get the message
Unable to access Transport Tycoon Deluxe CD!
Result: [Error!]
But the bizarre thing is that the CD is in the drive and everything is,
afaIct, set up correctly. The 'cdpath' switch is set to v: as it should
be, all the MS-DOS settings are exactly as per ttdx.exe, which works
absolutely fine. Help! If you have any suggestions, please let me know.
Idea for the next version of the patch:
Is it possible to patch the program so that you can control more than
one company? Because I would really like to have a game based exactly on
the UK, ie, lots of different companies operating on Trikky's
*excellent* scenario ... but I can't, because every time I start a new
company, the previous one(s) either go mental and rip up all the tracks
or else build loads of new railways, airports etc.

So you just want a phantom railway company that just keeps running the sameIdea for the next version of the patch:

I would suggest just screwing the CD and use a CD crack (really easy).I've just got round to downloading Josef's patch, and from the

Just go into the TTD cd and copy all the files onto your ttd hardrive
folder. Then go in and edit tycoon.bat on the hardrive and change this path
to whatever:
TTDX C:\ttdlx
ttdlx is the folder i have ttd in (duh)
And then i suggest screwing the 'cdpath'...I never had to mess around with
cdpath and my patched versino has always ran fine.

No, what I meant was that a player can control more than one company. So you just want a phantom railway company that just keeps running
the same trains over and over with no spending of their profit ever?

Mergers, takeovers and acquisitions would all be nice too.No, what I meant was that a player can control more than one company.

Re: Josef's Patch
It's sometimes difficult to distinguish. A takeover appears to be when aMergers, takeovers and acquisitions would all be nice too.
You can takeover another company in TTDX. That's sort of a merger and an
acquisition, too!
company owns more than 50% of the stock. And therefore the took over company
still exists and can operate, however, they must report to their owner
company, as they are a subsidiary.
Merger is what happens in TT. The bigger shareholding company takes over
*everything* of the mergee once it owns 100%. Often, the board of directors
merge too, and many of them are made redundant.
Acquisition seems to be when a large company aquires a smaller company with
100% of the shares. Nothing at all remains. Including the directors.
