Yeah, I know, but you have the ABILITY to make 200 cars.
But, with 7 stations, it starts to become more like a railroad game...
from
that point you have to start building trucks and helicopters and the like.
I
think that's good. I'm not as single-faceted in my transport routes as I
used
to be, and with 7 tracks per station, I'd start to only build trains.
Erm, I ONLY have trains and busses...
If I build a ship its only to keep the industry open in time for me to
extend the land to get a train to it.
I HATE aircraft (Even if it is because I don't fully understand how to run
them properly!)

Aircraft are the simplest things ever to run...

You build two airports, build a plane, set destination 1 to one airport and
destination 2 to the other airport.

WOW!

You can also set them to FULL LOAD if you want.

If I start an airport with a big town and loads of passengers......Within a
year I'm prietty much guarenteed to not have any passengers there in about
3-4 years.....B-(

I *think* it could be to do with the fact that i nearly always attach it to
a train station....
But even if I don't it still peters out..

Hmmmm. Strange that.

I usually aim for one station per town, so often attach airports
to train/bus/truck stations and have not really run into the
problems you describe.

As I've posted before, I've long suspected that industries have a
"sweet point" above which, if you are too efficient at taking
stuff away from them, production drops. Perhaps the same is true
of towns.

In fact, I think, this happened to me once. The town visibly
shrank, building smaller office blocks and houses than it had
before, but whether this was actually due to an over efficient
transport system, or what, I don't know.

The train station/airport combination is usually great as it has
a huge catchment area, and thus attracts loads of custom, so I
don't know what your doing wrong (unless it's playing toytown
where passengers are limited, but you wouldn't be doing that,
would you?).

I bet I know your problem.

Don't buy the biggest plane for your routes. Use a smaller one. For example,
use the DC-9 instead of the 747.

But, in all cases, if you can afford a Concorde, use it.

If you attach the airport to a downtown bus station you'll almost always
get tons of passengers, and the buses keep the ratings up too. You also
catch mail as if the airport was downtown, so you'll usually get enough of
that too. Only problem is I find you have to build the airport up and to
the left of the station or else it'll say "station too spread out".

Personally, I never build an airport without a bus station attached to it,
I can't make them very profitable without it. And if you put an airport
downtown it takes up A LOT of prime land for town growth, so it's nice to
stick it out in the boonies.

Why would this make a difference?
Am I not suppost to take all the people at once, or something?

Hmmm.......I usually would get he condorde just because its the first of the
fast planes!!

Hum, I used to afford Concorde systematicly, but I noticed that they crash
much more often than standard aircraft. I know it's totally unrealistic, as
I did never hear about a crashed Concorde in the real world, but apparently,
they have a lower fiability rate than other planes in TT.
That is to say that I discourages using Concorde, except for very long
distances (I'm still using one from one map coast to the opposite one).

Really? I've only had one Concorde crash...

Of course, one time I saw the computer try to land a Concorde at a teeny

As I was fed up with my crashing Concorde, I replaced nearly all of them by
Airbus. Now it's quiet.

When I play the SnowWorld scenario, I use a lot of planes for wood services. Normally, a plane crashes every month, but after a lot
of experimenting I think I found a way to minimize the chance of a crash:

D . . # . B
. \ # O ~ B
. \ . # B
T . \ / . .
. . / \ . .
* * *<*>= - - - - =

Needless to say 2 chars form a tile, and 'picture' above forms and airport, with a funny extension.
B = main building
D = depot
T = control tower
O = cargo dispenser (...whatever)
# = (un)loading space
"-" "=" "\" "/" = runway/taxiway
* = owned bare land
< = land bending down from the right
> = l. b. up f. t. r. (so "< >" forms a slope, leaving the other *'s lower than the airport)
