Anything I can do, I'd gladly offer to help.

Would you mind trying to dig out the addresses of the 8 or so webrings
that are around now?
Ok.
Posibly the quickest would be to go to http://www.webring.org
That will bring up 5 (I think)
The next three or so can be found in Yahoo (check under Transport Tycoon
webring)

As I get the actual URL's I'll post them.

In light of this. Is there a semi-official NG FAQ?
If not It would probably be a good idea to create one.
No there isn't as:

a) We're not really big enough yet
How big do you need to be?
b) Who wants to be bogged down with needless bureaucracy
Bureaucracy? I just thought it would be easier to point any new people in
the same direction to a single file that will quite possibly answer a few
questions in one go.
Oh BTW Who(If anybody) is the moderator/boss here? Or is it self kept?
And if you *DO* have a set of rules it would be a good idea to attach
them
to the site.

No one owns it but it appears that Microprose asked someone to create it.
Site????????????
There is no one site, you just ask your ISP to attach itself into the
posting ring.
This is a newsgroup. And if you mean the NG, then we can't post binaries,
and if you do,
you get a firm telling off by your ISP.
Yes i know but some NG's are moderated even tho' its not advertised.
Strange but true.
I think I've been subscribed to this NG for about 2 months now, and I
haven't got bored yet,
unlike many other groups that I had joined.
I know what you mean. I used to be in Alt.games.Command and conquer but it
got a bit silly with the flame wars that were going on with
alt.games.starcraft and all because of one pittiful little troll. shame
really B-(
How long have the rest of you been here?
About a month or so and spent a week or so lurking (Its a good way of
checking out a new NG)
That is what i love about here. No rules, no moderating, and you can speak
your mind.
Yep. And another thing I've noticed is that hardly anybody swears. If I have
one pet peeve its unnessecary crass swearing, its not big, its not hard and
noone's impressed.
And you know what's even better.
Go on.
Total flames = 0
Hmm.......Good point.
Move to another group, and it's full of flames, and the topic never gets
debated.
Oh yes, People just go 'crap, NEXT' Waste of time really.
Sorry, getting a bit boring there wasn't I :-)
No probs. B-)

There are two separatem 'site' threads here. We are talking about the same
site?
Yes we are.

Edward Bernard is constructing a new NG centerd site.
Mine is just one that I am constructing for myself, I think that Edwards
will be the official NG site.
Mine is just a site for my portfolio (altho' a few hits would be nice!)

Sorry for any confusion.
But this is how it goes!

No, but the up-and-coming ng-users' TT website should act as that.

Sounds good to me. People can write articles on various elements of TT/D
and submit them to the webmaster (who is..?). I might do a introductory
piece on two-way signalling, double and four-tracking. Perhaps junctions
in confined spaces too.
The webmaster appears to be me. But if anyone else would like to update the
site during the week (as I can't) then i would be only to happy to give them
the user name and password.

Thanks in advance for the strategy guide. You'll be the first person to get

I agree. There was only a couple of postings when I joined. But still only
the *huge* NG's have FAQ's and rules.

My first NG was alt.books.pratchett, but you have to stay straight on
subject, no deviating is allowed. The correct tags are also crucial.

And I cannot possibly keep up with 2000 posts a day. No way. This is ideal.

Ok, I've looked at the website layout... er. It needs a lot of work! No
offence, but the bouncing letters, the frames and all those gimmicks
dont do it any favours!
I had to use them, as I don't have any software to make banners and such
like. It is only temporary. If anyone can get me banners, or make them,
please let me know.
Take a look at my website... isnt it easier to read? :-)
What do you mean? I've had comments saying mine's easy to read/
Plus, how good
is freeservers? Do they let you upload via ftp? Tripod might be better,
they dont require a banner advert I think.
Freeservers do allow access via FTP.
RE Tripod, although they don't have a banner advert, the site addresses are
too long. Who wants to be http://members.tripod.com/~ttworld Too long I'd
say
And also, you get unlimited email addresses, like webmas...@ttworld.itgo.com
Tripod is usually very slow too. Go on, prove me wrong somebody :-)

I'll most likely start the strategy guide today or tomorrow, but it will

alt.games.grand-theft-auto, it has a "charter" all you hafta do is try to
stick to the rules, we don't force em on anybody, we also have roles, i.e
chariman and stuff to keep the newbies in order

Hey chill Christie. That's what's so good about here. It doesn't matter if a
thread degrades into something else as long as everyone likes it, which
seems to be the case with Rainbow. It is fine, as we aren't huge, so people
aren't going to start going 'This has nothing to do with TT' and the day it
does, I'll have pressed 'Unsubscribe' so quick you wouldn't have even seen
